If i already have a lifetime plex pass, do I need to worry about this or be mad about it?
It sounds like nothing really changes? Even if non-plexpass people stream from your server

finally switched to a vertical mouse because i was starting to get carpal tunnel. it will be weird re-learning how to aim with this thing, the movement is just different enough to throw me off
first impression is that it’s nice to be able to move the mouse horizontally by whipping my wrist back and forth, but i can’t seem to get the mouse to move in a straight line at all
yeah vertical mice are great except for gaming, much like a good trackpad
It’s funny, wayyyy back in the day when mouselook was just becoming a thing, I had a much easier time aiming precisely with a trackball

i think i’ve adjusted to it now and got pretty far into nuclear throne with it, this thing seem like an adequate gaming mouse. my wrist feels great. the scalloped surface for your thumb to rest on is a nice touch

The lack of extra keys on my model m that I’ve used with every computer I’ve had since 2008 was causing some copy/paste shortcut issues with my new Mac mini (plus it didn’t seem to like the ps/2 adapter and I’d have to unplug and replug it after waking it from sleep mode), so I am now using one of those older wired aluminum Mac keyboards that I found at a thrift store. It’s so low! Did people use these things with aftermarket risers or something?

got a good deal on a kinesis advantage 2 on ebay and now i’m using in my lap to drive the tv in my living room. i fear there is no coming back from this level of depravity. i’m going to start having opinions about switches

I think the Bluetooth radio in my laptop is dead. Attempts to reinstall drivers, etc., go nowhere. Tried a few more things suggested by various YouTube videos, command prompt stuff. The result is all the same:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Not really the end of the world, I was only going to use some headphones wirelessly but I dunno if I care that much I can just run a cable. Just annoying to keep switching the end of the headphone cable between my laptop and my PS4 controller respectively. Feel like I’m gonna wear out the jacks.

I can fix this for you, believe it or not
- turn off fast startup (this is in a very obscure part of an old control panel dialog)
- turn the computer off and remove the battery or fully disconnect it from power in some way
- turn the machine back on
the bluetooth will now work.
the reason this happens is very obscure and stupid and has to do with the bluetooth being connected to the network card on an internal USB → PCIe bus and a lot of builtin Windows hardware settings forcing it to preserve state between reboots normally, which causes the radio to not recover from crashes

So, apparently Fast Startup was a load bearing setting on my laptop because now it won’t start at all lmao. It power on briefly, the fans scream, and then it turns back off.
This is why I never power down my machines voluntarily lol

The funniest thing about this is that I have been getting very excited for the electronics recycling day my town is doing at a local park next weekend – I have a bunch of old crap I’ve been meaning to get rid of in a responsible way
