I’ve been playing this through with my brother, and it is very, very well-done. Every level, fully through the campaign, is full of genuinely delightful surprises and big laughs.
Amazed at how he made this mod happen. It’s a lot.
the amount of effort they put in to recruiting modders to save awful looking gearbox maps is astounding
i wonder when any of this stuff is coming out. the last update was a lot more interesting with halo 2 e3 and stuff, so much of this one is making fan fiction out of scrapped mp maps and porting halo custom edition weapons in and saying they’re cut content because tags sort of existed for them. well…ok i guess? same with being really excited about putting cut halo wars animals in halo ce. what are you guys doin at this point
anyway its surprising this isnt a dead initiative after Microsoft fired everyone. but i guess that explains why theyre getting modders to do it now
yeah this bit lost me completely lol
“we added 40 weapons that can only be used in third person” is like cool and all but it’s fucking halo lol
amazing the speed at which these guys got lost after getting access to the archives
Anyway a patch dropped today that added drop-in drop out to firefight sooo you can actually reconnect in a firefight match now. And they’re 8 players now too

someone is working on a mod so you can have pokemon battles with halo enemies
This early Gravemind concept art was cool. Check out the skulls-for-teeth:

Been catching up on season 1 of halo paramount TV show, it’s so dumb. Mr John halo spends 97% of his time out of his armor and 99% of his time without his helmet on. I’m aware it’s about to get much dumber too. I can’t slate it 100% since Vinsher is an extremely camp scenery chewing villain and Parangosky is played by a veteran Bollywood dame with great line reads. They race swapped Miranda Keyes and she is very likeable xenoanthropologist. Some nice parts with chief removing his hormonal pellet (the shows shorthand for his entire regime of mental conditioning) and starts enjoying classical music. Overall tho the whole thing is extremely 343-brained. Must have “human” story must have “relatable” characters must have some white guy with Buffalo Wild Wings face and Trump 2024 trimmed beard who grunts a lot.
There’s barely any aliens so you never get the sense that Spartans are actually good at fighting. Like canonically they are supposed to be eight feet tall and weigh two tons and flip a jeep with their hands but actually they just look like D1 basketball players.
Very tedious side plot about insurgent leader’s entitled heiress daughter, only saved by Bokeem Woodbine’s line reads.
Female spartan is adorably blood lusty and strange. Strong could be a lesbian vibes. There’s a scene where they just go around the room talking about how much they love killing aliens and rip and tear etc and Miranda just kind of looks at them crazy. Fun.
god I fucking love her she spends so much time relishing in being a piece of shit in season 2
There’s actually a lot of things to like, like they nailed the look of a lot of the technology, set design is great, even the civvie areas of Reach have that clean white and glass aesthetic of the game… Etc
At the same time they are clearly trying to make like a Battlestar Galactica style story of it, I guess they didn’t think the original Bungie games had themes worth exploring, but I do miss those themes - religious hierarchy, exploration of strange worlds, desperate struggle in a war for survival forcing moral compromises etc
I think the show has a lot of this
Not really imo? So far anyway. I’m on like episode 7 and the aliens are like a side character at best, rumors that they destroyed x or y planet, “they blew up my home world” etc but you don’t really feel their might or get the sense that it’s extinction level serious. There’s a lot of telling and not showing if that makes sense. We spend a lot more time on unsc bureaucratic scheming and evil nonprofit lady’s schemes.
I did like the opening scene where they massacre the civilians on madrigal, lots of good "people getting exploded by plasma weapons " stuff, but since that point there hasn’t been a lot of aliens being cool and violent which would be a big draw for me. I hope we spend more time on covenant political dynamics outside of evil nonprofit lady as well
considering the show starts with madrigal being glassed my assumption was that the covenant hadn’t really breached the inner colonies too much, and when they did ONI covers it up (this and the fall of reach are covered extensively in season 2), i dunno, if i wanted to watch the chief shoot aliens i’d just watch a longplay of the games. i’m pretty sure they saw star trek discovery and were like nobody wants to see endless scenes of awkward cgi aliens mumbling in a fake language about Politics. I’m glad the arbiter showed up though
Got to s2e1 and things are looking up. We got to see some scenes of Kai running full speed after a spaceship which was very cool. Also the one where she breaks out of handcuffs. Best char so far
I think what I meant to say is, halo is really a milfic to me and it didn’t feel very military until the last few episodes I watched. Instead it was kind of generic feeling Sci fi scheming. S2 opener had some v satisfying military operations stuff. Sickos_yes.jpg
Inter spartan competition vibes are fun too, gets that military feeling in a way
Season 2 is definitely a marked improvement imo because it really feels like they ditched trying to meet halo fans’ dumbass expectations (a lot of people complained that chief is a pussy who talks about his feelings too much) and is more focused on a coherent story
