its better. not fixed, but better. the UI assets are still lower resolution and incorrect, and the lighting is still completely wrong…i also noticed that enemies produce more blood in the original Xbox version but like whatever I’m not gonna get that far into the weeds here…its a shitty phone pic but the original version is alot brighter, the shadows are less pitch black, and some interesting stuff like the ammo counter on the assault rifle looking more detailed (another consequence of the shitty Gearbox shaders changing how everything looks.) They did finally get the shields to look right tho.
also what the fuck happened to the motion tracker? i didnt even notice it wasnt in the first screenshot
i cant even feel bad for 343 cuz they chose to base all this stuff on an inferior port of the game for no fucking reason. im not convinced theyll fix any more of this stuff than they have cuz the most glaring things to most people (bumpmapping, shield shader effects, distance fog) are now fixed. you might also been interested to learn that halo 1 runs like shit on xbox 360 because they have never ever given this game the respect it deserves
The only thing I don’t love about the new one is spending $ 170 U. S. $ on a 7-inch figure. Which is coincidentally what the first one is going for on eBay right now (but BBTS is showing it in stock for $125). Right now I couldn’t justify the price unless I was going to buy 3 so I could flip 2 of them with the same kind of price difference as the other one and then it becomes too much of a commit.
The original Halo stunt video.
I created this over a weekend back in February 2002 with an Xbox, Halo CE, a VCR, and my old blue & white Mac running iMovie.
This video is in the highest resolution you’ll find (640x480), 4x the resolution of the original video file.
Sounds very much like a soft reboot overall. I’m not fussed, depends how it’s executed and more importantly how it’s contextualised via gameplay scenarios and loops.
Utterly egregious to end on a cliffhanger once again, considering they hope to make this the platform for Halo for the next decade, unless of course there’s something to the suggestion of multiple Campaigns in future, but it still stings. It’s not like this franchise has a great track record with those or really any attempt at tying up loose ends.
Even when it’s not extended universe lore, I had completely forgotten everything that happened in the average at best Spartan Ops that sets up Guardians’ beginning, and which got rapidly dropped after the first level.
just curious - that’s a scripted animation, isn’t it? The body wouldn’t have physics that can react like that just while playing an animation. Representing a robot (precursor?) glitching out?
