I set this up ty
It’s kind of amazing how badly they fucked up the water and fog from the original xbox version. 343 Guilty Spark looks fucking awful once you know what it’s supposed to look like (seriously, go compare the two) and none of the sky fog in the game works properly. It’s a bunch of stuff only 343 can fix and wouldn’t be an issue if they just ported the goddamn xbox game instead of the ugly ass PC version nobody played anyway
so if i dont want to support 343 i should just emulate or play on my old consoles right
yes ideally just play the xbox version of halo 1 if you can
it really bothers me that they think ppl will play no matter what, and like im not as invested so ill prob just play old halo
these kinda things really bug me on a personal level for some reason
The fan work fixes enough of the visuals (water is still messed up but the animated Covenant FX, missing material layers, and fog work is back to correct) that it’s a worthwhile tradeoff for me next to 60fps and the option to bump the resolution, compared to the original game.
this is a gamer disease. just play it at 480p on a CRT like everyone else with the huge xbox component av adapter did
the only computer I have that’s hooked up via component to a 480p CRT is a Raspberry Pi 3B+
Ah, as an action game, it’s substantially more fun to play at higher framerate. This is one area where 343i knows what it’s doing in moving to a 60fps target
I don’t see any reason to jump on the fan-patches for PC Silent Hill 2 because nothing they offer is an improvement, but a game whose core interface is moving a reticle through three layers of abstraction benefits from being crisper
Every Halo ran at 30fps until 5 and we managed just fine. I’ll take a lower framerate any day if it means I can play Halo the way my brain remembers it
60fps doesnt even exist for a console player stop spoiling yourself, get down in the five year old plus machine gutter trenches with me and the rest of the trash
don’t they just accomplish the same goal as these halo patches, e.g., make the original shaders not look sparse and broken when being run in a modern environment?
like I guess PS2 emulation is probably better across the board in that case but I think the intent with those is pretty sound
Every game in MCC runs at 60 on a base Xbox One.
I’m pretty sure H:CE would run at 60 on a PC from 15 years ago.
I’ll accept some missing/incorrect art assets in an action game like Halo if the tradeoff is that it plays better than ever; having effects close-but-not-quite-correct in a game pitched on its mood like Silent Hill is damaging to the core part of the experience.
halo at 60 is not any better of a game than it was at 30 though is the point I’m trying to make! it’s cool and all but it hasn’t made me play better or worse, the only reason i tolerate the mcc port is because smashing pussy at oddball on wizard online with marina brings me closer to enlightenment
everyone who talks to me about framerates can put 100 dollars into getting me a computer that is less than ten years old and maybe ill care then (except busted because he actually helped my computer woes)
also im not playing the 343 halos anymore ive decided. im playing the older ones hence the framerate discussion. whats an xbox one etc
lol the MCC version can’t even hit 30 on a PC from 10 years ago and it’s the version most people can get easily, so this is just PC gamer bullshit
the real thing higher FPS is good for is smoother mousefeel
and at that rate both 30 and 60 fps are basically equivalent compared to my counter strike attuned 180 fps hands
ah but have u considered it’s trying to load a bunch of garbage assets ported from reach with the bloom cranked up to 300% in the background just in case u ever hit tab
playing Halo with a mouse and keyboard is profane
