I’m glad we have finally gotten around to christening the new forum with the Demons’ vs. Dark discussion.
Demon’s has better flow but Dark has better lyrics
Next we move on to the “this game is like Dark Souls but not as good because X” phase.
might as well just rename this site Dorks’ Souls and call it a day
“I call this [weed] strain ‘Dank Souls’, cuz it’s immersive as hell and makes you feel hard as fuck.” - a real human person who sold me drugs once
I feel like if you, as a person who finds their life story having dropped them off at point where you are in a position to seriously consider naming weed with any sort of regularity, choose to use the word “dank” in any capacity, then you should probably be executed.
living up to that custom title right there eh nedge
everyone’s gotta take a stand on something
was the REmake REmaster this year? thats probably second place for me.
Im still on last-gen and havent had much money for games. most of my playing has been thru 20$ PSN cards and flash cards.
first place is easily peasily Trails of Cold Steel.
(i have finished neither these games…)
Okay, now that I’ve played through just about all of Bloodborne, it wins. It almost seems unfair, as if FromSoftware’s action RPGs are outliers that should be separated out before everything else is graded.
I still really liked SOMA, Undertale, and Her Story.
80 Days came to Windows in 2015 so it’s gotta be that for me. I cannot recall the last time I played a heavily story-based game through 3 times in a row.
80 Days is goshdarn fantastic.
I know it’s interactive fiction “lite” by the niche aficionado’s standards but still has better writing than 90% of other games, indie or otherwise
[quote=“ronk, post:6, topic:278, full:true”] I’ve only played 15 minutes of Undertale and apparently it’s really good, so i’ll probably try again.

i played the whole thing twice now, game is really good, still like the soundtrack a whole lot
I have never heard anyone describe it as IF-lite, because it’s as deeply structured as any good large indie IF game.
((I played 80 Days a dozen times, trying to solve the puzzle of how to complete the trip in 40 days. That should probably say a lot about how much I enjoyed it.))
Hum, I’d ignored it, now I’m curious
Oh, absolutely. That comment comes from my impression that contemporary IF purists seem to regard multiple-choice IF as less sophisticated than parser-based works, but maybe I’m completely wrong in thinking this.
Undertale was my hooray of last year.
This may be the most positive assessment of Axiom Verge I can find in the new forums. Some had conditionally positive things to say about it in the old forums, but I had lost my enthusiasm for it to some degree and had largely forgotten about it.
Until I received a copy as a gift this week and ended up playing the game all the way through. As an ambitious, fairly “pure” Metroid clone, I think it succeeds. I can see where most of the criticisms I’ve heard come from, but I also enjoyed the game enough to finish it.
One of the biggest issues I had at first was the placement of the weapon-switch on the left stick. I’d constantly press it by accident, especially during boss fights. But I changed that mapping to the XBOX button and had no real trouble with the controls after that.
While it isn’t a contender for my favorite game of 2015 thanks to some other strong releases, I did enjoy Axiom Verge and would recommend it to someone who is looking for a basic Metroid-type experience with quality throwback graphics and music.
