the troops wrote a dismissive post that was ostensibly about undertale on the old axe, and the resulting argument was one of the trumpets ushering sb1 into the void
i really don’t want that drama getting rehashed here

Our last SB attempt at Lost Planet 2 co-oping only got past the first boss, so I’m totally up for a fresh start.
My username’s a bunch of arrows at the moment, just so ya know.
wait, what? I definitely need to know about this
I’ll be picking up Lost Planet 2 for sure now that it’s megacheap and I’m about to have free time to spare (after January 5th) so please sign me up for co-op mech ridin’ and monster butt shootin’
I actually tried hitting you and the others up for LP2 yesterday but everyone was offline. I’ve been prodding my little brother to play with me and have recently been making some headway into Chapter 2 by myself.
Man, you guys, if you want to play LP2, just like, bug me or send me an invite
Or does it still use GFWL. If it does, that’s terrible.
GFWL is dead dead dead. Games have either been patched to get rid of it of they don’t work anymore.
Huh? I’ve played two GFWL games in the past week and they both worked fine (Lost Planet 2 and Street Fighter x Tekken).
It’s apparently less dead than I thought, but last year MS claimed they were shutting it down completely and a lot of games were retrofitted with Steamworks support. It appears they ultimately backed down a little bit and left the activation and matchmaking servers up for some games.
Here’s a neogaf thread about LP2 and SFxT that goes into more detail: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1067008
I was going to look into it further but the Steam forums are down right now and they’re sadly the best source I can find.
Oh yeah, I’ll have to remember my Windows Live ID again and put it in our IDs thread. LP2 still required it (long after I had also heard it was dead) last time we played.
Installing it now~
Nidhogg for less than 5 bucks is maybe the best deal yet in the PSN holiday sale (especially since it’s cross-buy)
Suikoden II is $2.50 on PSN. Don’t be stupid.
at this point I’m so averse to playing a jRPG without fast forward and save states that I would be buying that purely out of misplaced guilt at pirating it when it was >$100 and no one other than the aftermarket was seeing any money from it anyway
How’s Suikoden 3?
I guess I’m hoping that Sony extends PS2 back compat on the PS4 to all PSN titles
I played suiko 3 when it came out back when I still hadn’t adjusted to a world in which jRPGs were no longer relevant or well made or interesting to me as I aged. I remember thinking it was pretty good (and specifically that I hated it less than FFX)! reasonably good personality and world design and battling. animation and 3D modeling a bit worse than it could’ve been even for 2002. probably substantially less playable in 2015 than the prior entries simply for not being a 2D game you can fast forward in an emulator, and less compelling than most/any of square’s PS1 stuff. but definitely not bad.
Hmmm the battle system looked like it might be interesting from the screenshots (I guess there are army-level battles?) but if it doesn’t stand out I can’t imagine I’d ever actually play it
Thanks!
It’s been ages but I can’t help but remember a small bit of frustration with Suiko 3’s battle system. If I remember right you teamed up character into two man units for around 3 or 4 units to use in combat and you could only give one order to a unit. So you ended up where if you didn’t have your units properly paired you were in for a bad time. It started getting more interesting when I got to the castle bit and just started gathering a menagerie of characters to mix and match instead of the constrained teams in the three main stories.
Entitled gamer whining/rant:
Jesus, the selection of games on PS+ has been kinda crap lately. But what really burns me is one of the Vita games on offer for January has a native port, but the one Sony is giving out is the PSP version. That is god damned hilarious.
Are you looking at the Euro PSN offering? I don’t see any PSP games on the US listing (not that the US selection is stellar either, but I’m I held out on the Grim Fandango remaster at least)
Edit: Oh I see what you’re saying. They listed Patton as a Vita game even though it’s just a PSP game that’s compatible with the Vita. That is pretty sad.
Legends of War: Patton is a Vita game but from what I’ve been reading from various comments that instead of the Vita version they’re giving away the old PSP version (in the guise of the Vita version).
