I decided about a week ago that since I have some free time I was going to finally push hard into my Godot development. After grinding some coding lessons and having good success I checked itch for a game jam and saw this one.
Here’s a vidlog - vvvv -
TLDW: It’s my first attempt at game and I’m doing it in 3D for reasons.
I’m happy with how it’s going I’m not good at visual art so hopefully I can nail a vibe and let the functions do the work.
I’ll try to do a few updates during the week. Definitely open to comments and questions.
I fixed the two issues that I noticed in the video while uploading the video.
Currently working on a monster (at least for me) of an inventory system. Was going really well untill just recently where a signal is not emiting on any mouse click except for left click. Gotta track thit one down quick.
Things are coming along. Inventory took a long time and I may in large part end up scrapping most of it in favor of other stuff (oh well) but the simplification has kicked things into high gear and I think I can get something in be the deadline which is just under 24 hours. No time for a video though. I’ll try and make one of the entry after I submit it tomorrow.
I got a couple of nice comments from the jam so that was nice. I’m gonna finish a basic version of this at some point. Hopefully within a month. When I have a new build I’ll link it but the jam runners don’t want us to upload patches to the itch pages until adjudication is done…
I’m still kind of working on this. Getting it more game-like in the las month tells me there is a good idea here but I need to back up a little and take stock.
I’d like to set this on an actual map. The fact it was on a boat was to fulfill a requirement of the jam. I need to decide what the map will be like and where in the story to start.
Speaking of story, there is quite a story but I don’t know how best to tell it so I think I am just going to just focus on gameplay.
