unfortunately GME momentum was fucked by brokers restricting share buying, and more specifically restricting options buying, in addition to options becoming too expensive for yolo players anyway. what part of this was driven by the muscle of little guys (as opposed to their pure momentum meme energy being syphoned by quant funds) was on the gamma end, and that’s gone. I knew it was gone on friday based on the price action and the options open interest, but I decided to pay the tax to hold over the weekend to see if all the press coverage would do something wonky to the upside. it didn’t. I sold out in the first couple hours today. ah well, memes are like butterflies: too beautiful to last.

this is getting dangerously close to another qanon thing, though, where people just make up more stories to keep their other stories livable and interesting. some people are going to have this stock at $6 and they’re going to be talking about how the shadow cabal of share printers are about to run out of places to hide. it would be a really sad ending to a genuinely populist thing that has the potential to morph into an actionable leftist groundswell
