yay!!!
I played the last two stages of Bullet Witch, as I am sick, again.
I have no memory the Concept Stages. They are hiliarious joke stages like try to find 50 enemies in 30 minutes in stage 4. I failed that one. I did another that put explosive barrels everywhere in stage 1. I got killed by a brain throwing a truck at me. Game rocks.
It is so wide and open when so many games at the time were constrained. It’s cool the stages are huge.
I think a lot about beating the game on the top difficulty netted you 1 Gamer Point.
in a weird coincidence, i was also thinking qbout that achievement today. i wasn’t playing bullet witch, though.
i remember when i did play it, 15+ years ago, i thought the demon soldiers draped in empty-but-intact whole human skins were really effectively horrible bad guys
The 50 enemies joke stage they all beg for their lives in I think original line reads you do not hear elsewhere.
Has that collection been confirmed anywhere? I mean, I remember hearing rumors of it, but no confirmation, or if it was even going to include English versions, or just be the EGGConsole versions.
Just in Japan, I think, sometime this year: D4 Enterprise will release physical compilation of 4 classic Ys entries for Windows 10 and 11 in Japan in 2026 | RPG Site
Then there’s also this: Ys Legacy Collection ~Ys I&II&III For X68000 Z~ launches on April 23, 2026 in Japan | RPG Site
As the resident “guy who has spent so so so so so many hours playing Hitman World of Assassination in the last ten years” I naturally had to jump on 007 First Light.
So far? I like it. You’re…kinda on rails for a good chunk of the start. Sort of. You’re free to approach a lot of things as you’d like, it just feels turorialized and channeling you toward certain solutions. There’s a nightclub mission that’s sort of the first proper mission, but the location is pretty small, so this chateau level feels like the first big one.
Mercifully, my fear of the shooting being bad (Hitman’s was awful! I never used guns!!) went away pretty quick. The whole game feels snappier than Hitman and, uh, Kane & Lynch. Sneaking around feels pretty good, taking guys down feels pretty good. Guy who plays Bond is pretty good. So, uh, so far…I like it.
I will say that in some ways it does feel dumbed down from Hitman. There are distractions in the environment, but they don’t feel quite as freeform to use as Hitman did. There’s stuff you can toss but it’s just…there. You can’t pick it up and take it with you, it’s just there to bean someone in the head with if they come by.
I mean nothing deragatory when I say it just kinda feels like a slimmed down, more accessible Hitman. It turns out that if you put some set pieces in there, it’s a pretty solid 007 game formula.
Also I just found a bottle of wine with a little duck on the label and '47 printed on it, and the bartender you can get information from tells you he can make you a Bare Knuckle Boxer. You play that Hitman Paris mission enough…ya appreciate the nod.
Honestly this sounds perfect for me
so despite really not enjoying the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 1 because of how it drags the game out beyond what felt reasonable or enjoyable to me, i am actually really liking the remake of DQ2.
i don’t have much to say about it, other than that, but i guess maybe DQ2 makes more sense to me as a project that could stand to be expanded upon, where the main appeal of DQ1 to me is how simple it was.
Bought a puzzle pack on steam that included moonleap, which was the only one I really wanted but will eventually check out the others. I rolled credits on that in one sitting, but I had enough fun with it that I am planning on going for 100%. It’s cute and clever, it’s not too hard to finish but has some tricky puzzles and some fun overall ideas that I got a kick out of.
But then I started on Lies of P because another friend is playing it for the first time, and let me tell you, I did kinda miss the idea of a Souls style game. Sure I’ve played Dark Souls 1-3 a bunch, and if I ever set the PS4 back up I’ll go back to bloodborne, but something brand new? It’s exciting. And having someone playing at the same time means I have a direct line of discussion.
If you end up liking Lies of P, they did a really nice job with the DLC as well.
Finished Easy Delivery Co, which including choosing an ending then looking up a secret third “real” ending and doing some light post game stuff. Whole game was about 4 hours.
The driving physics were just ok, not a whole lot of skill needed, and the car was really really bouncy. Part of the game’s charm is the truck is bouncy, along with the cargo in the trunk, so you end up losing some of it along the way no matter what (unless you spring for some tape to clamp it down). I think part of the charm of “strand type” games is navigating the world, but in Easy Delivery a lot of that is memorizing routes. (or in my case, drawing a map so you don’t have to look at the in game one up). Because of the low visibility of the snow/fog/etc you can’t drive as fast. This creates a bit of friction on the main part of the game, which is driving a little car around.
IMO the one thing I would change about the game would be vehicle handling, specifically adding a little bit of slide because drifting is fun, and making the truck a little less bouncy. Mainly that’s a taste thing with me.
You have to keep your truck gassed up and your character needs energy drinks or coffee to keep going. The game doesn’t tell you that you can start a fire by purchasing wood at a store, then laying the wood anywhere, and lighting it on fire and putting a pot on top. I was able to figure this out though. I also didn’t know you could get cosmetic things like hats and paint for the truck. I think it was because the game world was so harsh I was mainly focused on completing the game and mere survival. You also don’t feel a need to go into shops because if you’re outside the truck too long you freeze to death, so extra exploration that uses energy and gas just feels undoable.
This is a pretty good game for a solo developer with a small set of collaborators. The game’s scope was small enough that there was room for a lot of secrets and scenes that set the mood. The game was about $15. This is the kind of project that more developers should aim for IMO.
are there unlockable items tied to an online account like in hitman
They’ve got some outfits you can use for owning Hitman, and another if you completed the Casino Royale elusive target, but they’re restricted to a simulation mode.
But that’s kinda it. Maybe some gadget skins.
The online stuff in First Light is mainly leaderboards for the combat challenges and you also earn points to unlock stuff in that mode by playing the single player but it doesn’t count if you’re offline so if you’re playing the story offline and you plan on engaging with the other mode you’re kind of missing out.
I’m also playing First Light but I’m not as far as grandpa. I just got to the London safe house after meeting Q so I haven’t even started the first actual mission yet. I like it so far. It’s looking like it might be a pretty good Bond story and I think all else aside it will probably live or die for you depending on how much you like Bond stories and whether or not this one does it for you.
I will probably check out the Tactical Simulator mode tonight if it’s available because I hear there are some slightly more in depth combat tutorials there than what they give you in the story and I don’t want to miss any nuances (though it all seems pretty basic based on the story).
I think IO have said they want to do a trilogy of Bond games so if this game does well then they might be doing that for the next decade+.
Yeah, I played through what you could arguably call the game’s first big Uncharted style set piece moment, and it’s…fine? I’ve kinda grown tired of bits in games like that, where a lot of the game goes into a sort of funneled auto pilot, but unlike most (I’ve complained about the Spider-Man ones a lot, so that’s my point of reference), you have a decent amount of control in things (quite literally, I’m not gonna spoil it, but if you know…) in how you handle the combat that gets thrown at you.
I’ll give the game this! I’m going to spoiler it because even saying this foreshadows too much, but the game does real good at warming you up to Bond’s fellow 00 recruits.
Infer where that goes as you will, but it managed to get me, so the story chops are alright.

These are the two hardest bits i got from Control The Body, which is a weird physics/QWOP-lite platformer. (the direction keys you press move your feet in that direction, rotating your body at 90 degrees if possible, so if you are standing straight up and press right your feet point right and you fall flat on the ground). Also you can jump (eventually)
It has some really clever platforming puzzles and challenges, but by this point in the game I was getting a bit frustrated with the physics of it - I just couldn’t get the feel of the momentum right and all that I had left were the hardest bits so I called it, but getting as far as I did was still damn satisfying.
This is also a game made by @Gate88, in case you didn’t realize!
