It’s not. It’s really not.
You have to go through the incredibly boring first mission before you can wander around your confusing home base and find the multiplayer mode NPC or something, and you can’t actually play story missions with other people. It’s just zombie invasion slop against bullet sponges and nothing happening and it’s really shockingly boring. I don’t how they did it. Wretched game.
I have tried Astrobot for one hour yesterday. It seems very well done, high production values but… always the usual stuff? I don’t know, don’t see myself playing the whole of it, I have played enough platformers already, and this doesn’t seem to add much.
Are there any platformers I should try, that wouldn’t give me this feeliing? B3313 and Super Mario Eclipse, maybe?
Tony allergic to yume nikki
I dunno about this
Could you elaborate on it? I don’t dislike Yume Nikki’s atmosphere but it’s the gameplay that does nothing for me. B3313 being totally different gameplay wise could actually work?
B3313 is definitely a Yume Nikki-like so if part of your whole thing is being allergic to Yume Nikki i doubt you’d really have the patience to play it for that long. it’s a lot of wandering around, and the wandering around is the most interesting part (the individual stages you go to are mostly fine but are most of the time kind of interludes in between the wandering around imho).
re: platformers that have a different feeling, i def think Corn Kidz 64 is worth trying. def requires you to comb all corners of the map but it is unique and well designed
Thanks!
also i you haven’t played Psuedoregalia, it’s pretty much a straight Metroidvania with a Mario 64-style moveset but i basically enjoyed my time with it. plus it’s cheap (as is Corn Kidz 64) and didn’t outstay its welcome.
It also can’t be exaggerated how ridiculously weak pre-AlphaGo computer players were. I played a few hundred games of Go in the 2000s when I had some friends who were into it, my skill probably reached a modest high-beginner level like 15-kyu, and I was able to beat a state-of-the-art Go program running at max difficulty in 2005. It just didn’t realize when it was being encircled. That contributed to the game’s reputation as “richer and more intuitive than chess” after Deep Blue.
Played exactly one race of Ridge Racer 6 using xbox backwards compatibility. It looks great. Runs great. Sounds great. Games fell off when consoles stopped launching with a Ridge Racer. This “era” of ridge racer has similar machine designs across the PSP and Console games. Although the console games have more cars.
if youre playing infinity nikki we’re gonna do our first themed picture ‘contest’ submit your looks!
every time I play WAR MONGRELS I find myself stunned that the morons who made hatred of all games managed to make a decent if janky Commandos-like that somehow has a compelling and thoughtful story about the Holocaust, Polish resistance, intense trauma and a bunch of people who fucking hate each other only slightly less than they hate the Nazis. they spent like almost a decade making absurdly embarrassing games and decided to take things seriously all of a sudden I guess
im been playin Atlyss lol its the most ive ever indulged in mmo bullshit since my friends in highschool got me to make a WoW character & i got bored after like 30 minutes
partly thats because this has actually kinda fun (if sloppy) realtime character action combat. and i dont have to play it online, with randos. Mostly tho its because i can play as a shortstack imp wielding a sword thats as big as/bigger than her
seriously this is a very passable recreation of my sona (see avatar, furry thread)
Even from beyond the grave, Tony Todd is kicking my ass in Indiana Jones. I gave up thinking maybe it’s one of those unwinnable game fight moments, but nope, apparently I gotta win it.
There’s a “boss” fight before this one that’s one of the creepiest I can think of in a game, and kinda unfair to poor Indy. To elaborate too much would ruin it.
Oh man I didn’t realize he died right before the game came out! I recognized him from the rock, great casting
That fight and the final boss I have to say were balanced really well for how bad I was at the combat — I was down to like one bar of both health and stamina at least once in each of them and managed to pull through on my first try, which is a credit to the designers, since they were clearly going for “sloppy-tense” more than challenging and that’s a very narrow band
Tails doll…
CAN U FEEL THE SUNSHINE
More Ridge Racer 6, it looks really great, and sounds good. The soundtrack has some bangers on it. Ragequit because the “dynamic” cars are incredibly hard to handle at lower levels. Otherwise I tend to get 1st place within a lap.
I played hundreds of hours of Ridge Racer on the PSP so this handling model is just muscle memory at this point.
Nobody is brave enough to say it, but Sonic R def has the coolest roster of any Sonic game and maybe any racing game. Metal Sonic? Sonic CD style Amy? Tails Doll? An actually cool Metal Knuckles design they never went back to? ROBOTNICK’S LITTLE CAR!? Top shelf.
2025 is gonna be the year I get a non-novice mode 1CC in a shmup, so I’ve been grinding the practice mode in Espgaluda II.
I first discovered Cave games from the iOS ports, and 1CCed all but the Hell difficulties because touchscreens make evading bullets too easy, and I think it’s about time I get a legit 1CC on these with limited movement on controller or stick. Specifically, I’m aiming for an Arrange Mdoe 1CC.
I think this is the first time I’ve bothered to take notes about how to progress through a level-based game to move forward, but I feel like it’s a really nice lifestyle fit for where I am in my life right now. The Stage 3 music soothes my withered soul.
