pretty close tbh
there’s a screen in there too, showing your opponent. as i remember it, you can choose one of three story arcs, each with a few opponents for you to beat to death

Finished a one credit clear of Resogun on the standard difficulty to cap off the platinum trophy. Exhilarating, thrilling, magical. Amazing that one of my favorite arcade games ever was released on PS4 in 2013 lol. I think this is the only notable 1CC I’ve ever done, as well. I have a million points in Ghost Pilots, which is harder than a 1CC in this game, but that game is like an hour long and stupidly punishing. I’m very happy

I had been playing a bit of 868-Hack recently, which is a small cyberspace themed, score & streak focused roguelike from Michael Brough.
While looking for other Brough games to play, I was pleased to learn that I already owned “Cinco Paus” from the “Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality” that was on itch a while back.
The game is entirely in Portuguese (and a native speaker has informed me it’s “not very good Portuguese”), but it’s been satisfying to try to work out the iconography and scrape together whatever information I can get from the text.
I’ve been recording my learning process YouTube and it’s been a lot of fun! The wands all have wild and varied effects and it feels like you have to do a lot of reactive play to be successful. Some games you feel very powerful, and other games it’s like none of your wands do anything useful and you really have to scrounge and scrape just to survive.

Cinco Paus is my favorite Broughlike. The sounds, drawings, and mystery of the wands are all quite captivating.

played the first couple of stages of a doom tc called ashes 2063. i had to play it on th easiest difficulty, but i had a great time. the atmosphere is amazing, skulking around abandoned motels and fast food restaurants shooting regressed cannibals and so on.
so unpleasant and cruel in the way that a post-apocalypse should be

Alien: Isolation is very good but I’m beginning to understand the “tad too long” criticism now (covering my eyes for spoilers, I see I’m on mission 11 out of 18, thought I was nearing the end!)

six golden coins was my first mario game. i thought it was weird you couldn’t get bunny ears or a turban in the consle marios when i played them
