Trying to play more Pacific Drive, wanting to reach The Next Area, I didn’t think my car is upgraded enough but went for it anyway. This was a bad idea. I feel like I have to grind for resources to unlock the stuff to get further into the game - but the pace at which you do so is still glacial. There’s resources I can’t get in the first 3rd of the game. One thing you need - repair gel - requires chemicals to make so you can repair your car. I got a bunch but then The Storm started coming and both of my headlights went out, then I quit because that was, like 30 minutes of playtime down the drain.

you do get the option to quit and keep your loot. I’m going to…keep grinding for junk I guess

I was just heading to go sit at the campfire in rdr2 and then this happened, this shit is fucking killing me

immediately after this dutch walked up to me and started hollering about ain’t it great to be alive and out of those mountains, life is so good! arthur was literally like why the fuck are you so chipper and dutch just hollered FAITH, MY SON, FAITH! and wandered off laughing to himself. Pearson done spilled some of that navy rum into the stew pot I think

It’s wild how it was an amazingly popular and well regarded game in the west but one that got overshadowed by other games and forgotten, but in Japan it became remembered for fifty years for being the biggest piece of shit.

Boy I mix up Spelunker and Spelunky in my head so frequently and just now I was very confused

So, I followed your advice and started the first Shadow Tower to play 30 seconds of it. Several hours in, I am still playing it and I have beaten the first boss, Apollos.
Now I am in a fire world but things have become much more difficult, not sure if I am capable of pushing forward.

I think it’s worthwhile to try a bunch of From games and play until you hit a wall that’s excruciatingly tough. I enjoyed Evergrace and Forever Kingdom until I very much did not. I’ll get to keep the music and the memories.

After finally figuring out decent settings for Control I decided to poke at a few more PC games, see if I could squeeze a little more out of them by playing with the settings.

Hitman 3: I had been using FSR3 and a bunch of the highest settings, but the joke’s on me - I can actually turn that off and set the resolution scaling to 1.5x, and holy shit it makes the game look nuts on my little 1080p monitor. The objectives in Marrakesh where you gotta run the length between the school and the consulate are still the bane of my existence, though.

Saints Row: No amount of settings tweaking will make this thing run well. Honestly probably not worth the time, effort or bandwidth I spent downloading it.

Evil West: This was an odd one. Game set itself to the highest settings on boot, but ran like shit. I disabled V-Sync, enabled a frame rate cap at 60, and enabled FSR, and it runs great? Looks indistinguishable from what it was trying to do with everything maxed out? Also fun to play what feels like a lost PS2 game.

Still feel like there’s something not, uh, right, about my PC setup, lotta videos on YouTube of the same or similar hardware running better, but I’m slowly figuring it out.

I also just gotta learn to find settings that work and enjoy some damn games.

Should I do the water world before? I saw an exit from the fire world that brought to it

Sure, your ultimate goal is to kill all the bosses of each world so if you dont mind hiking back up the tower you can technically beat them in any order. Fire World’s boss is actually unique in that you find and use an item in there to summon him, so you could even get ahold of that and save him for when you’re ready to kick his ass

Water Worlds main gimmick is “acid water” floors that eat away armor, but it literally just affects your boots lol

Paper Mario: The Origami King has the best premise, tied to the worst start to a game I can remember in recent memory. Everything feels like busywork and the combat loop is extremely disappointing, in light of how pleasing The Thousand Year Door’s (the only other Paper Mario I’ve played) is. So far it’s been doing the same visual puzzle over and over again and eliminating enemies which I imagine do different things, if they ever got a chance to attack.
