apropos of nothing, I have never been able to enjoy command and conquer because when I was growing up one of my friend’s dads (who had the exact mannerisms of and similar interests to dale gribble) lost his job and became depressed and stopped looking for a job for a couple years and all he did during that time was play a LOT of command and conquer and I remember my friend always being really embarrassed and frustrated anytime command and conquer was being played anywhere
there’s a literal backrooms level and it’s fucking complete ass
agree
rogue city rules…
skill issue if you ask me. look at this picture of yuri and submit to his will in order to enjoy command and conquer again.
King Of The Hill themed RTS. How easy is it to modify OpenRA?
got a copy of Street Fighter II’: Champion Edition for the PC Engine recently and played through it with Ryu
this is not necessarily the most arcade-perfect version of the game (by a long shot), and maybe it’s not even as good as the Mega Drive port (especially with the hack that color corrects and fixes the audio), but this will always stand out in my mind as being a meaningful game because game magazines teased the hell out of us
i think most kids had been playing CE without even realizing it, and then the SNES port came out and was great, but…where were the bosses?! i was a Vega main, and this really messed with me.
but, the game magazines said, in Japan, the kids there got to play a version of CE at home for a console called the PC Engine, aka, the TG16.
being completely exclusive, the game carries with it an importance. at a time when no other home version of SFII allowed you to (legitimately) play as all the characters, folks with a PC Engine were laughing at us.
anyway, the game’s worst point is its music. i don’t dislike the PCE soundchip, but it does not do justice to the SFII soundtrack, and everything feels slightly muted. as far as how it plays, it feels close enough to the real thing to be enjoyable. B- in retrospect, A- with nostalgia glasses
Last boss of Robocop really turns the PS2 vibes up to 11
Played more of the Alan Wake Remaster. Finished the main story chapters today and will do the DLC episodes tomorrow. Wanted to refresh myself before starting Alan Wake 2. I have played and completed Control and it’s DLC last year I think. I haven’t gotten beyond the first act of Quantum Break and I don’t want to put off starting Alan Wake 2 any longer to finish QB.
is this good or bad lol
Finished FEAR, recognized 2 of the names in the credits. That’s a new one.
ONE OF THEM vetoed something cool I made for a certain game. Oh well.
It seems I’ve picked the wrong upgrades and have died at it’s last phase repeatedly so it feels very authentic
g string was great til I picked up the gun now I can’t take pictures anymore because everything is shooting at me and I read you can avoid most of the combat but not before going through a gauntlet of shoot men and dumb turrets and floating mines. I just wanted to jump around and throw boxes and look at amazing assets, but every direction I turn is another thing to shoot instead. I was hoping it was all telekensis just let me turn on god mode if you’re gonna do this. the only damage I wanna take is from falling or fire or security fields because at least then it’s my fault
edit: ugh even with god mode its just puttting me into scripted unavoidable fight one after another. i was in a air duct and a swat guy rappelled down trapping me inside with no choice but to shoot him to get out. it keeps happening. when do I actually get to avoid combat?
my friend i have good news have you heard of the developer console
yeah I wish it was like for bullets only
FEAR is like a lot of games where the final act upends a lot of the game’s systems in favor of something with more exposition in order to get the rest of the plot out of the way and explained, get the player out of the Final Forbidden Zone, and set up the squeakwel. We learn some really unpleasant stuff about Project Origin!
Because it’s lifting more than a few things from Akira we get…THE AKIRA FUNICULAR YEAH BAYBEE YEAHH. i got stuck in one right at the end because I’m pretty sure the game bugged out with the lateral movement and the game needed a last minute fix, so it just sticks you in place while it moves.
Anyway you go to the basement, blow up a few things, then spooky guys come out of the dark to attack me. They come out of The Void so they can spawn anywhere, but mostly in front of you. The enemy encounters that made up the majority of the game are gone now. And these ghosts go down in one hit, but they do a bunch of damage, but we have enough health kits to survive so… this final sprint is a bit of a downer. Which sucks because by this point in the game you get a high speed grenade launcher, bug zappers, and rocket launchers. You can’t really use them. Worse is that using the shotgun against the spooky guys sorta is suboptimal, but the game gives you pistols, but you can’t really dome anyone with them.
Like, a lot of games this happens, the final encounter is just Enemy Type Hard Hard but like 10 of them and by then you’ve figured out most of the moves so it doesn’t feel like a Final Challenge.
Towards the very end there’s one final Flashback scene and it turns out the Psychic Girl is your mom? and she’s slowly shuffling towards you, and in most of the game I haven’t shot at her because i’m like “clearly this is someone who’s been through shit and would have already killed me AND is a victim so i’m not going to shoot” but then she ran at me and I died over and over, so I looked up a gameFAQ and you HAVE to shoot your mom! what the fuck!
anyway nice day out, i’m sure nothing bad will happen
oh
ANOTHER HELICOPTER RIDE I’M SURE THIS ONE WON’T CRASH LIKE THE LAST 5 HELICOPTER RIDES IN THIS GAME, CERTAINLY NOT AS A FRAMING DEVICE TO FEAR: EXTRACTION POINT. Thank you again for the key @Grandpa I had a gay old time
I don’t know who told you this but G-String is an HL2 mod in form and soul and yeah you are shooting dudes all the time. It’s most definitely a shooting game.
yes
the person who made the game. i quit after 10 unavoidable fights. i might check it out again but it was super disappointing. espcially beacuse all the platforming and throwing objects around and having psychic fire int he game before it was just mandatory arena and hall shootouts is actually interesting and still very obviously half life 2
I did not at all have this experience, I don’t know what to say, maybe it takes the soul of a true gamer to find super stealth routes or something. If you don’t want to shoot mans it’s not your game would be what I would say.
