I could never get into the second one, the first one is ace though. i’ve always been curious about the third but never enough to actually play it. i like the song in the trailer? also

All the max payne games are great, even game boy max payne. but 1 and 2 do have a mood and atmosphere and whatnot that 3 isn’t interested in, it’s a rockstar game with max as a rockstar type protagonist. visually I think they look great and if video games stopped progressing graphically after max payne 2 that would of been fine with me. 1 takes place in dilapidated hotels and dirty alleys, 2 in hospitals and high end hotels and the enemies are called The Cleaners. one of the levels in 2 is the club from 1 in the middle of being renovated into a fancy restaurant. I think remedy said they could have made max payne 3 but they were busy with alan wake. I wonder if since rockstar is probably just going to make online focused games now forever and max payne doesn’t really lend itself to that if remedy will ever take another crack at it again. I wouldn’t mind a 4 from rockstar either though.

3 is totally noir to me, it’s just neo noir or whatever you want to call it. It feels like 1 & 2 are black and white and 3 is in color. 3 is where the themes of regret and self destruction really hit their peak and that speaks more to me than anything else
Finished Severed – even managed to 100% it. First game I’ve done that with in years. All that in just a little under 8 hours. Gonna call this one a gem. Provisional top 5 games I’ve played in 2016 as of October 23:

I really like all of the Max Payne games. I think 2 might be my favorite. I really dig that the enemy in the game is a paranoid fantasy. As Parker said, they dress up as cleaners and their cleaner vans are surveillance vehicles. Also, they spy on you and they watch you while you shower.
There is a scene in the game where you have to protect a character who is trapped in a mascot costume, with a bomb rigged to explode if he takes the head off. The path you take through the level is based on what doorways the costume’s head fits through. That’s one of my favorite things in a video game.
Max Payne 3 is cool but I wish it was longer. I feel like there’s only 3 hours or so of gameplay in it. It does have probably my favorite soundtrack of any video game. I really regret not ever getting to play the multiplayer, it looked super awesome.

hey it’s the song from the trailer i like! you saying the game is shorter actually makes me want to try it more. the main reason i didnt try it is because i assumed it was some 16 hour bloat fest
I don’t want to lie to anyone, but how I remember it is being 3 hours of gameplay and 3 hours of cutscenes, like Revengeance.
That’s the only song with vocals but the soundtrack is awesome.

MP3 ran kind of like crap on my computer, so I put it down after I beat the campaign. Whenever I get a new machine in like 10 years I am gonna recruit parker and play the horde mode. Believe that.

got to strongarm a global council vote to create global cooling and lower the sea level to the advantage of my massive land armies of missile squads
really enjoy how diplomacy in this game is an actual give and take, not an all or nothing, love or hate, besties-or-testes approach like civ

I would be down. I never even tried the multiplayer on Max Payne 3. I loved the main campaign an left it at that.
