i’m here to stan how maplestory 2’s aesthetic is a perfect follow uo to the original
Playing Borderlands 2 on PS+ and really wishing I could double jump and dash and mantle up ledges like in Rage 2.
Yakuza Kiwami and helping new hunters Bloodborne most nights this week.
…has there not been an attempt at an open world mmo rpg brawler, somewhere between Godhand and GTA V?
I know there’s online multiplayer games with strong martial combat at the forefront but maybe not like I’m imagining with style and moveset focus.
I slept on this. I don’t remember noticing the initial Steam release from last year and was awaiting the Switch version, somewhat halfheartedly after watching the overly serious plot-ish seeming trailer. I have been playing for like an hour and a half on PC and I stopped to come here and say that this game is sweet. So incredibly solid feeling. I’m loving all the buttery whipped 16/32bit transition hi-tech sprite rotation and tween movements, yum. There’s a sassy crow shop keeper. I will continue to play and finish, already clearly a notable achievement in the genre, best findemup mouthfeel since Momodora 4.
timespinner also has the best double jump animation. that little twirl!
also i think every important npc is gay and/or trans. i love this
they are it owns
Stuck in a sleep-work-chores loop and come home with absolutely no energy to do anything anymore so I will congratulate myself on doing a short 10-minute save point to save point run in FF8 tonight before being too exhausted to go any further
Holy Diver by Irem on the NES, which is some absolutely fucked up game that’s shaped like Castlevania but plays like Metroid
are you excluding Absolver?
That’s one of the few I thought of and definitely relates, but kinda peripheral, I’m thinking more city like or urban jungle environments and with a few more combatants in pvp or pve (having played Yakuza a lot this week).
Reaching back a bit I never played Rockstar’s The Warriors, wonder if it’s got facets
There was that one game a lot of people around here liked, Anarchy something. Reigns?
That’s framed more as a death match but good luck finding any games today. The single player takes place in a big hub where you can fight some mobs as you go between the different missions.
the vita version of dynasty warriors gundam
what an age we live in
i’ll play anarchy rwigns with fucking anyone
A game from Ninja Theory got leaked, which looks like an Anarchy Reigns type of game.
I’m not sure if it’s the shorter stage length, more reasonable enemies, or the wider variety of actions, but Katana Zero feels way less overwhelming than Hotline Miami. Maybe it’s just because I don’t have to deal with killer dogs (yet?).
I really like the conversation system too.
pretty sure katana zero was written by cboyardee too
Yeah, it definitely shows. That revelation during the Barkley 2 discussion is what sold me on it, despite feeling guilty that I still haven’t finished the last couple levels of Hotline Miami 1.
devolver’s output is finally getting better-better!
