It’s really nice to know this is still in development! I remember being really taken by it the first time I saw it some years back. Was worried it might not see the light of day having not heard much about it since… Any word on a possible release date or is it a “when it’s done” sorta situation?

There’s no steam page yet and no word from the developers on a release date. They did give permission for judges to talk about the game and share screenshots, and it’s the first time I’ve seen it come through the IGF. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was released around GDC in March to coincide with the awards show but that is based on no actual information.

yeah this would not be my first recommendation. imo it is actually underrated in light of their prior work and the license – it is one of the more well rounded, approachable, cRPGs of the last few years for sure, but… there are just so many trash mobs, they couldn’t help themselves.
playing this over a Larian game would be p silly

the game is good! everything about the game is in fact surprisingly good, they hit their marks to a weird degree, but it has way too many boring battles

i’m not 100% but i think my window manager was responsible for the weird lag when running on an external display. the single biggest change was setting the framerate limit to “ps3 native” i think. vulkan also runs way better than opengl

wanna say it was mainly switching to Vulkan that did it, yeah. but if that doesnt do the trick maybe try some of the other settings recommended in the post

Messed with the new Sonic Generations some. Haven’t touched the Shadow stuff, and have maybe gotten as far in this new one as I have in all the years I’ve tried messing with the original, which is to say - not very.
Anyway it’s exactly the same as I remember it, except visibly turning into a Junji Ito snail person it’s now Woke and DEI because they covered Rouge’s boobs up and Sonic doesn’t hold Amy’s face back (had I not heard third hand that people were mad about this shit I would have never known).
I thought the Shadow stuff was supposed to be all Keanu but I guess it’s just the DLC chapter that comes out later? I dunno.
Anyway there is something sick and wrong with a game that plays this fast and loose asking you to replay levels and try to steer your out of control car of a character around slowly to find otherwise impossible to see Chaos and red rings.
Reminds me of trying to get all the collectibles in Cruis’n Blast, but unlike that game the stage stuff doesn’t play out in super slow motion when you do it.

Some of those designs really are cute so maybe sonic can briefly zoom through a portrait gallery (a constantly pursuing red spring forces him to maintain top speed)
Actually, to account for a diversity of player opinion, maybe just have separate “Friendless Sonic” and “Social Sonic” modes (Friendless is default; that’s as much as I’m willing to compromise re my whims)
Edit: or Friendless mode could appear as an option if you have at least two unplayed Yakuza games on your steam account

and instead spending that energy on culture warfare nonsense over a Sonic video game
and not even doing a good job of it, I swear like I heard Chris-chan get angrier about the color of Sonic’s arms than people have been over this
