Games You Played Today: Actress Again: Current Code (Part 1)

IMO the real best part of Senran Kagura is just how open they are to what constitutes ninjutsu. Run around with a shotgun and a fantasy knight looking shield? You’re a ninja. Punch people with Big O arms? You’re a Ninja. Reverse super saiyan lady banchou who just hits things stupidly hard? NINJA.

i also like that the only difference between good and bad shinobi is that the “good” ones are cops. only a game as wise and artful as senran kagura would ask the player to interrogate their role as an agent of capital while they put two fingers on the touchpad and swipe them apart to simulate touching a girl’s boobs

just killed omega weapon in ffviii

love how secret bosses in dragon quest are multiple webs of buff timing and debuff mitigation and resource management over 60 turns of ebb and flow and secret bosses in final fantasy are like lol watch out this guy has an attack that literally just does 9998 damage to your whole team

I mean yes this is why final fantasy games are better than dragon quest games

realtalk i actually think it’s one of the big reasons they’re much worse

but like it’s hilarious and i love it

I never finished DQV mostly because the end bosses felt like a really shitty game of buff management tug-of-war and felt super out of place in DQ’s otherwise relatively chill vibe

ff end/postgame bosses have nothing on saga
rs2’s final boss has a move that charms, fairly standard yeah but it also buffs that character to fuck and makes them invisible so you can’t target them with a remedy

though yeah while i generally prefer dq, using level up potions on shinryu to get it to 255 and casting level 5 death to one shot it is hilarious and cooler than dq or smt postgame tests of mastery

playing through H2A on PC slowly and bouncing between “is Halo 2 good?”, “I don’t think this was made for mouse aim” and “maybe H2A is bad”

mostly the last one because the “remastered” music is “what if we just fuck up the mix and turn up the loudness”, a thing readily apparent because you can instantly swap between anniversary and original aesthetics

“how do we balance Destiny for mouse aim?”

“what if we lowered the recoil of guns?”

“GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE”

destiny feels gorgeous on mouse though! this is kinda laggy and weird

fond memories of having my thumb glued to mouse4 for my titan skating macro so i could pretend i was playing a slow new quake

DotA2 released a major update today, and now when you open it, it does the Valve logo and sound effect opening, and then some ridiculously dramatic intro clip that is just too much I can’t take it seriously and just start grinning whenever I watch it.

I uploaded my own video, because when I originally searched, nothing came up. After I finished, something showed, but they clipped out the Valve logo, so, mine is still superior.

each one of these is a credible League of Legends login screen animation

I’m on the other side where the mouse aim feels responsive and not 343 shoving analog stick emulation in there but then the game is not suited to you being able to do quick flicks or long precision shooting

oh, I never said it was bad

just seems like a weird way to go about it, like they gave up and went “well everyone can just point and click, might as well make everything a laser”

I love the Anniversary graphics, but the music is just like louder and djent-er. I don’t think it’s bad but, still. My friend and I have been playing it and by the time we finished it I was more impressed by the shootin than I was when I was a kid playing it. It is a truly incoherent campaign story, however. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens. And then everything happens in Halo 3.

Because you can mod the MCC version, we looked into a balance patch and played about half the c campaign with this enabled. I honestly think it really improved the feel of the game and the challenge. It was well worth it and very easy to install. I recommend it if you’re curious to see what Halo 2 could have been if Bungie had time to balance it.

idk, I’m feeling pretty pumped to defend the ancients after seeing that.

Played some more Saints Row The Third Remastered. Not much to say on it other than I guess it’s easy to forget that the Kanye “Power” mission is like, the third one in the game.

And the one after that has you flying low over Pierce’s car, shooting down enemy cars and blockades with a rocket launcher, before landing and rappelling halfway down the side of a building to snipe attackers.

I mean, I guess ya gotta hand it to them. They don’t shy away from going over the top right from the get-go.

Probably all I need to say about Saints Row The Third, though! The game is 9 years old, after all. Gonna trust that the Bonnie Tyler sequence near the end still holds up.
