Games You Played Today: Actress Again: Current Code (Part 1)

yes, but you need to own both

Home made my shoulders hurt because I was tensed up the whole time in anticipate of all the sound-based jumpscares it indulges in. The plot is… sort of open-ended but definitely heads primarily in the direction you will expect it to within the first 10 minutes of the game.

It was short, though, so at least it didn’t waste my time.

What if we added random battles to selectbutton. In the middle of typing a post the screen blurs and shakes and you have to fight other posters’ avatars

Finally unlocked all 200 tracks in Trackmania Turbo. I’m very excited about this and haven’t even tried the last 10 yet!

I have put 100 hours into this game spread out over the last 4 years. Truly the N++ of driving games!

reminds me of when I unlocked the monkeyball master levels, such a great sense of ā€œI can’t believe they put this in here for the tiny number of people who’d bother with itā€

Still need to get gold on quite a few tracks in that last series (slightly darker squares means that I just got silver x3 rather than gold), and then there are green ā€œtrackmasterā€ medals to go for if I’m still into this game after all that (which I’ve only achieved on like 5 tracks total).

Still only 3rd in Ohio… if any of you are one of the top Trackmania Turbo players in Ohio you’d better speak up.

I hope they bring We Love Katamari over. Wanna see that sweets planet in 4k.

How is this compared to the other trackmanias? The reviews on Steam aren’t helpful (as usual). Unlocking a board full of levels like that does have me salivating a little.

I don’t have a a lot of experience with the others, but as far as I understand it the others have a big emphasis on custom servers and multiplayer and this is lacking a LOT of those features (limited/dead multiplayer, no crazy custom servers with customs UIs, etc).

On the other hand this game seemingly has the most extensive single player campaign of all the Trackmanias. It contains 4 environments – Canyon, Valley, Lagoon, and Stadium – and those correspond directly to the Trackmania 2 games they released separately that share those names. They have the same physics, but graphically they’re a little more colorful and varied.

Every environment has pretty wildly different car physics, which is both a blessing and a curse. Some focus on drifting, some on sticking to the track, some on correct use of breaking, some on big jumps, some keeping your balance, some going fast as fuck, etc. Additionally, each environment has multiple surfaces (e.g. dirt, road, grass, sand) that change up the physics further. There’s a TON of variety, but it can be a lot to wrap your head around, especially when they make you change styles all the time. The way the campaign is set up, you’re playing 10 levels in each environment, then you’re forced to play through the next one.

This is where you can get stuck – you have to be pretty fluid and willing to engage with each style, otherwise you’re going to get stuck in an environment you don’t understand or don’t like, and unable to make more forward progress for a while.

I think the lack of good multiplayer and server customization plus being the first Trackmania that forced the UPlay launcher is what the Steam reviews are reflecting.

I’d recommend getting it on Epic if you’re picking it up now – I think it’s $20 there and you can apply the $10 coupon to get it down to $10. I’d say there’s a 50% chance it’s still launching from Uplay though.

Very very much recommend it if you’re happy restarting levels over and over while you slowly improve. I usually throw on some music and chill out with it for an hour or two at a time.

Jesus, the speedrun for this game is 4 hours. Definitely a lot of content for a driving game!

God I wish I was as consistent as this guy. Wonder how many hours he’s played.

Thanks, this sounds cool to me! I really don’t care about multiplayer.

I am dealing with the swamp area in The Witcher (it ain’t great) and I just have to say… I feel like most of the narrative games I’ve played in the last few months either have a quarantine or plague as part of the storyline (this, Deus Ex, FF XV, one other I’m blanking on) and I can’t tell if it is just an overused trope I never paid much attention to or if I really just have a knack for picking the most topical games.

Fuck yes, I forgot that Clubhouse Games would unlock today. Some of these games kinda blow (lines and boxes, get outta here), but the presentation is great and the instructions are actually pretty helpful.

If anyone wants to play Mancala…hit me up…

Lines and Boxes is actually a legit good abstract strategy game depending on how big the grid is (if it’s too big it becomes effectively random from the complexity). Used to play it on Yahoo and get my ass kicked until I started reading up on it.

I accidentally played this version of the game 100% through with the battle speed turned all the way down (I had meant to turn it all the way up).
