they should let you do that splitscreen

There are apparently 64 more levels, but they’re doled out randomly with no indication of how many you’ve finished. I did two and I think I’m good.

started Ys: the oath in felghana. the nihon falcom people really are some of the all-time best – what a pleasant little action game. not a fan of the english voice acting though

decided to go for it on hard mode for whatever reason, the bosses have been kicking my ass to hell

I highly recommend playing that game on an arcade stick. Or a clicky fight pad.
Its a good’n

I put like 12 hours into Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 (OpenRCT2) over the weekend. What a time sink. Great game though. Almost finished a level. When / if I end up flying international I could just play this the entire time and land annoyed that I had run out of time.

OPENRCT2 has so many little QOL improvements that I do not know how people ever did without them. Especially the cut-away view if you have a dense park. If I could put that on a knob Id be in heaven.

Learning a lot of tricks in terms of maximizing guest throughput on rides, concentrating traffic past shops, distributing shop types etc. One huge trick is saving the game, ignoring all other concerns, designing a coaster, saving the design, then loading the save and building the coaster from the saved coasters in zero in-game minutes.

Making small tight rides out of styles designed to make huge coasters is particularly fun. Made a really tight mag launch coaster where every loop passes through at least one other loop. Passing through loops or other elements increases excitement so this is like roller-coaster rider crack.

13-2 makes my ps3 sound like a jet plane so guess I am opening it up to reapply thermal paste again.

Or it is at the end of its life.

Imagining a Viking burial for your PS3 but instead of a flaming arrow to ignite the pyre you just play some more games

Hard is satisfying as heck for Felghana, so getting you ass totally stomped usually just means go grind for a level or two. It’s amazing how much of a diff that can make.

started playing the PS4 version of La Mulana because the 1&2 pack was on sale for dirt cheap. this is one of those games i’d always meant to play, but the original scared me a little due to all the esoteric, 80s style “hit everything around you and hope you find a secret” gameplay.

well, turns out La Mulana on PS4 is like a…remake? it’s pretty cool - like if an MSX game was ported to the SNES and they decided to modernize it up to a 1992 standard. for all the games people describe as “cozy,” personally, i find this kind of game to be actually cozy. it’s so rare to find search action stuff that doesn’t completely hold the players’ hand, now. i love just wandering and trying stuff out and then taking a dip in the hot springs.

I have defeated my first boss and wondering if I should keep trying with the second or do something else. have 4 fields available for exploration and running around revisiting everything looking for stuff I missed/has changed

I tried time attack mode

the game is really good at periodically bottlenecking you so you’re like “hey I haven’t made any progress for a while” then you finally figure out where you can make progress and all of a sudden the last few hours of meandering retroactively make sense

it’s a total masterpiece in this respect more than any other – trust the process. but if you’ve found a boss and you can damage them at all, you should be able to beat them.

The 1991 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R in that game is probably my favorite car of all time

i literally only ever pick the amg hammer for the road races and a series 3 landrover for everything else, it’s great

I immediately put the pulsar in a rally config that made it good at everything and would just adjust class up or down. I really want a rally game with forza horizon customization and amount of cars…

So far I’ve only hit one or two puzzles in Mario’s Picross where there didn’t seem to be a safe move to be reasoned out. I’m not as far (I think I have a row of easy mode left and I’ve done like one a day in whatever the mushroom course is called). I was wondering how much the game turns into playing battleship then working off what you learned from that. I’m hoping not much.

FWIW I don’t recall any of the Nintendo picross games requiring any move that can’t be figured out if you think about it long enough… but some of them involve a good amount of thinking.

Started playing Nubby’s Number Land. Music’s got a nice, Tetris Cdi vibe to it.
Not a game with a great deal of depth, but it’s nice to play a round or two when you’re grinding out work or particularly tedious chores and need a break. I’m happy that these endless, sort of arcadey games are becoming trendy and common again.

Not sure if posting about Eroge breaks the rules here, but I started reading
Nitro+'s latest game to be released in English, Mojika: Truth rears Its Ugly Head with a group of other people. This might not come as a shock to anyone who sees the marketing on the steam page, but I actually expected something more to this game besides it being incel-themed torture porn. Nitro+ has put out darker titles in the past, but they generally had depth and a larger, more interesting story surrounding these aspects. Unfortunately, the game, from what I’ve read of 3 of the routes, is exactly what I feared it would be.

Worse, it’s terribly written, shallow, and boring. I struggle to find enjoyment from the game even from the angle of watching a trainwreck. The game goes out of its way to have no themes or ideology to its characters. Everyone, including our POV character are paper-thin. The only thing keeping me going is fully understanding what the writer intended me to feel, and to write a proper review in the future.

If I am to give any praise to the product, the presentation and direction is amazing. Since you’re looking at the floor most of the game, they draw hundreds of floor and ground images, to shoes and feet in multiple variations and contexts. They also have a full shoegaze (get it, cause you’re looking a the ground) soundtrack and it fits the sardonic, evil spirit. Its very realized and complete. I wish it all went to a good game.

With the PS3 Running Hot I set it aside and continued my 2006 journey with my Xbox 360. I maybe eyeing a RGH-modded one on an auction site and trying to trick myself out of a bad idea. What would I even play with a hacked 360?

So on the Real 360 I bought a bunch of games as the store was closing then put it away because I think I had two months left in my PS+ Buffet. I clearly made right choices because tonight I started Sonic 2006. I’ve never played it.

It is truly awful. Just unbelievably bad in every aspect. The music sucks. It looks like garbage. It’s Mario Sunshine if touching water killed you and it sucked. I keep playing because I have a problem but also I want to see what new and exciting method it will be bad next. I ended the night stuck on a on rails segment where I got hit, put into invinciblity frames, clip through some cement, then die when the frames end. I’ve fallen through the floor twice. The Silver fight and ITS NO USE lived up to watching Game Grumps play through it screaming years ago. It is truly a scream worthy game. Loading for results screens. Buying power-ups from a personality-less vendor.

That Sega didn’t cancel Sonic forever after this is incredible. This isn’t finished at all. I could write another 3000 words about how it is bad.
