Today, I played through Ryan Veeder’s “adaptation” of Crocodracula: the Beginning. Pretty cool game! Kind of high-concept, though: imagine that there used to be a TV show about teenagers in Florida hanging out with their Ghostwriter-like supernatural mentor, Crocodracula. Then imagine that a fly-by-night software developer cranked out a bunch of text adventures based on this and other properties in the 90s. THEN imagine that one of these games was found and ported to a modern platform, with some flaws; there’s a fun meta-puzzle involving a copy-protection system that was only partially removed.
