Funiculì, Funiculà

I love that mission because I carried a turret through like the whole thing.
just peek it around corners. Unstoppable.

I think Xenogears had a big one but that might be a weird confluence of images.
any way here is a baby unit:

Resident Evil 2 (remake) has an incline cable car sequence.

The logging camp in INFRA has a funicular and I was so excited when I saw it I immediately rode it. My enthusiasm was not hampered by it breaking immediately like everything else in the game also does.

there’s got to be one of these in dragon quarter, right? i feel like i remember one but it would take too long to actually find footage of it.

yeah i am pretty sure you fight on one relatively early on?

The final boss sequence takes place on one

I’m sure I’ve seen some particularly huge ones in a Front Mission too

do you think the person who wrote this song realized at the time what an immortal banger it would be

Impossible

Not in a video game, but made with a video game.

i don’t know i feel like there is a kind of cocky self-assuredness to it that suggests some kind of foreknowledge. like i bet the first time it was performed live the composer was like “they’re not ready for this”

the song’s a traditional tarantella, which is italian for ‘immortal banger’

until this thread i thought it was fuRnicular

The second set of heists in Quadrilateral Cowboy are on a series of parallel funiculars:

The interiors remind me of the Angels Flight funicular in Los Angeles. If you’re ever there, it’s across from a great food court and it costs one dollar. You can use your metro card to ride it too.

Note, the dick on the wall is not part of the level design. Your friends can leave you post it notes in this game, and my friend put a bunch of them on the wall to form a dick

There’s a prominent one of these in Psychonauts 2.

Blaster Master Zero 3 has a couple inclined elevators like this one:

Unfortunately, these elevators only travel a short distance diagonally before fading into a screen where they are shown travelling at a much more vertical incline:

Perhaps a trick of perspective?

Also, in the opening post I pointed out the inclined elevator in Other M, but somehow forgot entirely about the inclined elevator in the frigate at the beginning of Metroid Prime. I believe this is grounds to have my Metroid fan card revoked (finally).

Yeah I’m definitely interpreting this in my mind’s eye as the “camera” swiveling to show the funicular from the “front” and making the incline less observable
