man im not a graphics dork at all usually but after my recent replay of HL2 (which as Toups alluded to upthread has thoughtful visual design that works really well on lo-fi graphics settings, aka the only settings my broke-ass laptop can play anything on) seeing this really lush next-gen version of City 17 got me embarrassingly hype
Also lol @ valve leaning into their core competency by turning Alyx into a pair of floating hands
Damn, him AND Breen? They were the two best VAs in there, by far. That really hurts.
CubaLibreâs #1 Half-Life Fan Trailer Analysis:
I dunno man I really donât want to go to City 17 again
how bout city 18
(slaps citadel) this bad boy can fit so many manhacks
if city 17 is so good why isnât there a
looks good but why does this 1911 not have a bow trigger? fuck valve and everything theyâve ever done forever
but theyâre zombines
i really hope this has a Not VR mode⌠i hate palmer luckey so much
Palmer Luckey is a bit of a Dr Breen type character come to think of it, especially with his new paramilitary drone company
it does not in any way require oculus
it IS vr exclusive but I guess eventually ppl are gonna mod it to be a normal fps or something, but who knows if the experience will even translate?
higher graphical fidelity was not worth the loss of at least some sort of mod tools almost becoming standard with every big shooter game back when. going from that to games as service horseshit, itâs the dismal tide
whatâs the best way to play half life 1 now
i found black mesa mehhhh, so do i want the original release or the source version?
I feel like the source version is probably easier to get to run on modern machines.
but I prefer the âfeelâ of the goldsrc version.
but casually I donât think it really matters? they are both pretty similar.
Source introduces a lot of bugs, and it adds HL2 water which looks out of place. The Steam version of og HL1 works on Win10, technically the pre-steam version looks a little better but itâs not a big deal.
Related question: Can I turn off the high definition textures in the original releases or do I have to use the Source one to get those classic weapon models back?
Unless they changed something the HD pack has always been something you opt-in to on Steam
