My only disappointment on the Smash Bros thing is that we don’t get the V or VII protags as skins, but I am holding out hope.

there was some talk last year about wanting to rework it into a regular single-player dq and releasing it in the west, i was sort of secretly hoping that was gonna get announced at e3 but no dice

i downloaded the client from the japanese psn last year but there’s some kind of ip based blocking

The only other appearance is when they all show up in the Final Smash. I’m kinda miffed 3 and 4 don’t have their fem alts to match Robin and Corrin.
XI on Switch will have DLC that lets you swap the main character’s outfit for that of the main in VIII. Doing this also unlocks the option to swap non-battle music for music from VIII. The moment this happens in the stream feels like a breath of fresh air.
The outfit swap was in the ps4 version, though the music was not, so that is a nice option, though I like how the main character in 11 looks more than 8.

And switching between 3D and 2D isn’t seamless. It can only be done at a church or a camp, and it boots you back to the start of a story chapter.
Last note: there are (new?) side quests that take place in the worlds of the previous 10 games. Sounds like those are only available in 2D mode, but I might’ve misinterpreted that.
Sounds like the same sidequests from the 3DS version which iirc had you travel back to mini dungeons of stuff from 1-10
I have bounced off of every single dragon quest I ever played but the 2D mode in this is breaking me
I still don’t want a switch but I’m gonna crack between this and MM2

Yeah, I think they’re just making it available now with the Yochi dungeon/quests integrated in some fashion. Would be crazy cool to see that all done with modern 3D graphics (!!!) though unlikely.

- the retro areas from the 3DS version are back, you get to revisit areas from each of the past 10 dragon quest games
- more marriage options (you can choose to “live with” male characters as well)
- there’s going to be an audio drama DLC coming after launch

I’m not going to play this again until you can both make the Hero marry whoever you want but also make other characters in the game marry each other
