food, glorious food (and drink)

I wisely froze them on a sheet pan first so they’re all individual still

In other news I made some half-assed shrimp burrito bowls the other night, and beef stew another night. Both were tasty.

The ol’ repertoire keeps growing bit-by-bit.

I do that pretty often, but with parsley, garlic, lemon and olive oil. I throw the zest in too. Like to pile it on seafood in a tortilla or dip sweet potato quesadillas into it.

I’d make raspberry lemonade or limeade, or granita or sorbet

Or maybe experiment with dehydrating and make fruit leather or freezedried berries?

Is that a Shrek

am in Latvia rn so checking with the locals: blend them with some sugar & decant into jars, use as ice cream topping or under raspberry instant pudding (or fresh berries & cream)

i picked up a bottle of that pineapple fish sauce that came up earlier in the thread. it’s pretty cool! i can’t explain the taste of it at all, it’s not exactly like fish sauce, but doesn’t really taste like pineapple either. it tastes kind of like the rotting corpse of a dead pineapple, but in a good way. idk.

we also got a ton of dill and tiny potatoes from our csa box, so i improvised a weird mashup between this woks of life recipe and this vietnamese fish with dill and turmeric recipe we’ve made a couple times. i am usually not at all an improvisational cook, always more of a stick to the recipe type of person, but this came out really well. im very proud of the results. i just used the boil/smash/fry technique from the recipe but seasoned it like the turmeric/dill thing. cooking with turmeric is so pretty.

rounded it out with a carrot and kohlrabi quick pickle (more CSA box randomness) and a ground pork with caramel sauce recipe that we do a bunch when we are out of other stuff.

The other night I had some leftover uncooked chicken tendies yeah, so I breaded them with some eye-talian breadcrumbs I had sitting around. And then I said “maybe I’ll make a half assed chicken parm” so I shredded some string cheeses into strips and laid them across the tendies after they were done frying. Came out pretty well!

Also:

Just drank one of these on a whim. Kind of botanical, but not bad. A lot less calories than what I usually drink, too.
