that’s a spicy dip
Why do you only come back here to tell everyone they suck
have you tried here
i’m sorry i know it is a tense moment itt right now but i just want to point out, and i do this fully lovingly and in support of the future of that forum, that ic does not have a ff7 remake thread but does have a thread for (rightfully) shitting all over the ugly panzer dragoon switch remake, it is so delightfully on-brand
i agree with the flag on this post, but i dont want it to remain hidden because of three things
-
you’re missing out that we had a really long discusison about the ‘anime’ thing in a different thread (Japanese cartoons) which touches on the same points you did
-
its weird to read one thread about FINAL FANTASY SEVEN that breaks everyones brains and be liek THIS FORUM ISNT CRITICAL ENOUGH. like its been 20 years waiitng for this game, peoples thoughts will form, calm the fuck down
-
you cant gauge forum culture from skimming a single thread
“circumcised by nationality”???
I don’t feel the anime part as strongly since much of that chalks up to people’s hugely accumulated shorthand (although worth review)
But harsh as it is, thank you for the first paragraph
Truckpump Lives
when are we all going to stop being racist enough to talk about how this project was led by the final fantasy xiii creative team so everyone on the forum will have to join hands and admit that those are good games
guess we better delete the thread
i think what selectbutton needs is people being more unhappy with a videogame for once, as there are never any critical disagreements on this forum
Honestly FF7R’s spiritual and conceptual ties to ff13 (which is the only one of the trilogy I’ve played), and its excellence and coherency, DOES make me re-evaluate 13. I haven’t exactly decided “it’s good actually” because i’m sorry but the battle system is sludgy, godawful boring dogshit, BUT I am seeing that my previous assessment of the game’s spirit was wrong.
I always felt like ff13 was haphazard, desparate, and had no vision–that it was a cobbled-together attempt to respond to a changing culture and a grasp at relevancy (ppl say the sequels aren’t this and i fully believe it and would love to get around to playing em sometime). but seeing so many of its ideas and themes and general vibes reappear in such a shimmeringly good game as ff7r makes me realize oh, maybe 13 DID have a vision, even if it wasn’t well realized. Like, they were Going For Something, which instantly makes me respect and like the game a lot more.
the battle system is one of the best things about 13!!!
i would love to be convinced that this is the case when i replay it
Speaking of ex-posters, ajutla was semi-obsessed with FF13 and kept talking about it. Always in a conflicted way that didn’t leave space for calling it actually “good”, but ajulta had like quietly the sharpest taste of anybody here and was probably onto something. Always made me wonder whether I should try it, but I never got around to it
it better have been cause that was all there was to the game! how do you have a jrpg without towns, unthinkable
the convenience of being able to shop at any save point is well worth not being able to run around town trying to figure out which one of the 3 NPCs that matters has something to say to me
The convenience of online shopping is destroying our mom’n’pop potion shops and stripping our towns of their local charm and character and community
Stardew Valley X Torneko Mystery Dungeon ultimate crossover game
anyway, please find below my rebuttal to all this Slander about the quality of ff7r:
