you know they’re going to partner with like razer to release an official sony branded evo fightstick with some glowy light or other stupid gimmick to try to justify being the only thing that actually works
This video really articulates a lot of the reflections I’ve had lately and was making in the games you played thread. tldr; it’s hard to keep track of why I want to keep playing fighting games (and many games really) given all the hurdles - rsi, skill gaps, cost of entry, spending time economically, competitive mindset vs desire for comfort and stress relief, who/where is my community conection etc.
It also reminded me of one of the strangest things a friend once said to me after a match which has since become an in-joke that summarises a lot of the strange feelings brought up by playing competitive games so intensely. After beating me in a Melee set, out of nowhere, as if possessed, they said: ‘Even if you had won that match, I would have still won it.’
My Hitbox clone arrived. It’s certainly excellent as far as winning matches is concerned but it turns out to be the opposite of ergonomic. My left wrist is in agony after playing only 4 hours over two days. It’s because I’m applying unnecessary force but there’s no chance I can make myself relax on that during a match. I’ll have to go back to my Xbox controller or maybe buy a conventional stick.
Sega US is asking both people who have and people who haven’t played VF5US to fill out surveys. It specifically asks about rollback netcode, something not in the JP survey, so Sega US is probably trying to use this as a cudgel in the future.
on the plus side, Oro’s chicken combo is back after all
some relief
though the range on his normals seems unfortunately short generally
i await bafael’s analysis once again
i thought many of sf4’s new designs were really good and memorable. sf5 is comparatively dull and indistinct. unsure if this is overdesign or just an avoidance of weird features. like, i think having distinctly weird elements to a characters design is key for street fighter, even if the execution of the weirdness changes with each series.
