I’ve been playing VF5 on emulator recently to get back in the groove so that’s fun news. I still hope they got a new game in the pipeline but I wouldn’t mind a proper PC port of 5. It’s been in the new Yakuza so how hard can it be

At this point I’ll take anything VF. Sega really ought to do some rereleases with good netcode. VF3 never even got a decent port.

A potentially updated version of VF5 is better than just Final Showdown again I guess, but hopefully they can make it work as a compilation of the VF5s. At least give us the custom intros, which never made it onto consoles. If it’s like Puyo Puyo eSports then it might come in pretty bare-boned, though.

The worst part of Melty Blood being tied to official Tsukihime releases now is that’s it’s roster and release schedule is going to be held by back the release schedule and Storytelling. I hope it still plays like Melty though. Unless they get permission to pull in the whole Type-Moon universe.

i feel like it’s just the first iteration that will be limited by tsukihime

I gotta wonder if they’ll update the graphics of VF5. They still hold up really, really well though.

Like zoom in on Akira’s hand! Look at those veins! What is it with Yu Suzuki games having the best hands in videogames? It started with Shenmue, I think. Real attention to detail.

I love VF4 more than 5 but 5 is still a fighting game with incredibly low bullshit in it, it’s incredible

Sorry, there won’t be Saber in Melty Blood

A title like VF5 Ultimate Showdown suggests that it’s Final Showdown with all the DLC included. If they were to do an updated version it would have a totally different subtitle. And I would think any ideas they had for a revision would have been made like ten years ago.

That said, Yu Suzuki still has a working relationship with Sega and has said he has ideas for VF6 and he’d participate if they said the word. It’s possible that Ultimate Showdown is meant to drum up interest for a new game.

It’s scares me a little because I remember VF5FS on PS3 and not being able to get a match because no one was playing it

Putting real thought into getting a Virtua Stick and swapping the PCB for something universal. It looks so nice and sturdy. There’s something right about playing VF with the designated controller–I love my Namco PS1 sticks for this reason.

Do it! I can’t recommend it enough. The VSHG is my favorite retail stick ever, even with the junk stock PCB. Swapping that out removes the only issue I have with it.

yeah i adore mine, the stock stick + buttons feel great. modding it with a universal PCB (and maybe swapping the buttons around so i don’t have to fully remap them on every game that isn’t VF? plus having to use the middle column of buttons to confirm/cancel in menus is really confusing lol) is definitely on my todo list tho.

it is definitely sturdy! it kind of feels like there’s a slab of iron hidden inside with how much heft it has. had a little scare the other day because the USB plug got wedged underneath it in my backpack and the weight of the stick nearly crushed the metal plug bits together

Turns out they’re super cheap on Yahoo, so…

Boy since I mentioned it, I gotta say how nice the Namco sticks are. The Pac-Man yellow, the Seimitsu buttons and lever–again, it feels like the right way to play Tekken, Namco Museum, Mr. Driller, et al.
Also, the Time Crisis games let you hold a button on the gun to pop out of cover, or you can put your Playstation controller on the ground and use its puny face buttons as a foot pedal. The realization that I could use a Namco GunCon and pair it with a Namco arcade stick and its giant buttons for a Time Crisis setup was powerful indeed.
Do I start talking about the NegCon next?

In the Mortal Kombat 11 story mode if they were decided on giving old human Scorpion a dramatic death scene as a way to make his younger undead self give up on his smouldering rage and thoughts of revenge then why on Earth would they not have had his killer be Noob Saibot? That sort of just writes itself, doesn’t it? Like, he could’ve potentially been done in by a near literal ghost of the consequences of his actions, something which they seemed to have been building up even in the previous games. It’s not like Noob had much else of a role anyway in the story besides being a generic lackey.

I don’t know why I’ve suddenly thinking of this lately. Have to occupy my mind with some garbage.

If you like geeking out over the details of arcade sticks, you might like this channel

It sent me down the deep end of arcade sticks for a while. I put a tighter spring on my Dreamcast stick, and I swapped the Viewlix panel on my Rap V for a Namco Noir one–much comfier on the pinky for 4-button games.
