like look at this shit they’re trying to make demons souls into lords of the fallen for some bizarre reason

uggghhhhhh cool take the unique gamey sounding music and turn it into yet another bland orchestral soundtrack why don’t you
i’d be bored enough with that and the artless texture changes but the bad new enemy designs and weird pseudo over the shoulder camera and your guy yelling HURGH! URK! (SHHNK) URRAGH!! are just weird

they’re not just changing the game to be in line with the rest of the series, it’s like they’re trying to repackage it into a AAA cinematic game

Holy shit I actually just watched this and thought SB might be exaggerating. This is fucking awful. Why have they changed the music? It’s unrecognisable.

That and the general sound design ethos is ‘give everything the impact of a car crash’. Flamelurker’s hitboxes are less clear. Enemy death sounds are generic screams pulled from a range of generic screams rather than having a specific death rattle signature for each type of enemy.

Half the challenge of the level design is using the right weapons in tight spaces. In the original you’d bounce off a wall if you hit it but now you can just flail a sword in a tunnel and feel like a big manly knight I guess!?

Eugh

I’ll still probably play it and write pages about how much it sucks D:

RIP

The tower knight theme will be the only boss theme they’ll keep but they’ll add a full orchestra

yeah it’s… magnitudes more off than i think anyone would even have come up with as a parody

really a depressing reminder of how little this industry ever learns

I guess Core Gamers think this OST is vaguely embarrassing and not worthy of The Epic Game Franchise rather than thinking it’s gorgeous, nearly avant garde and absolutely pitch perfect for its setting?

Yeah, every design decision about the sequel is baffling. That Soul Arrow is blindingly bright. I played a mage my first run through Demon’s Souls but I don’t think I would if I had to look at that thing all the time. The sound design is also awful but that’s been discussed ad nauseam at this point. There’s just no hint of all the subtle little things that made the original great. Just bombast - always more bombast. It’s the equivalent of the “WOW! Look at this!” meme in crystallized form.

I’m here to show up and offer my contrarian opinion, select button – no, this really does look like shit. whoops.

As it did with Shadow of the Colossus, Sony and Bluepoint will include a now-standard photo mode in Demon’s Souls. And similar to Ghost of Tsushima, and that game’s “Kurosawa mode,” Demon’s Souls will let players enjoy the whole of the game using visual filters.

“If you like the starkness and the despair of the original PlayStation 3 version, then we have a bunch of filters that you can choose from and play the game [that way],” Moore said. “So if you want to play the game in what we call the classic filter, which harkens back to the days of the PlayStation 3 and the look at that title, then put that filter on. If you want to play in black and white, play in the noir filter. It’s all there in the options. If you don’t want to play with our camera, you want to play with the original camera, turn the original camera back on. […] I would say with the filters though, if the fans could just play the game the way that we made it so you can see how we take advantage of the power of the PlayStation 5, then I would ask that they would do that. I’d be very grateful. Though after that, play the game how you like to play it, please.”

It would be great if they also put an option to retain the old music
Anyway the guy sounded like he understands fans’ concern but he is bound to sell Ps5 graphical capabilities.
So they have probably been heavily conditioned by contract to remake the game that way.

I hate to state the obvious with all our complaining but is anyone actually going to waste 600 dollars on a PS5?

Absolutely not.

For a second there I was like what the fuck, the remake is fixing the broken archstone and adding a playable giants’ realm!? This is cool though.
