yeah they make nice shirts! I have & still wear some nubby silk men’s ones from a few years back (2018 maybe?)
there’s a Dries van Noten documentary on criterion rn that’s only like so-so but it does have some really good archival stuff, shots of fabric production and process, etc. the old shows are all on youtube anyway,
oh but fw23 also has some really high highs
love this
Sorry to pollute this thread with video games and fast fashion, but look at this Saturn controller bag
not sorry enough
well I think it’s great!!! I was feeling guilty about highjacking the thread for runway posting anyway
lately I’ve been trying to find a jacket to replace a puffy nylon one I’ve kinda permanently borrowed from my bf’s grandma and wear running errands etc. I’ve never been a puffy jacket person! it’s simply not my bag, baby. my jacket criteria are: no zippers, so buttons or snaps only; no hood, and the collar shouldn’t be too big & obtrusive; very warm (I get so cold so easily); natural materials only. of course the top contender so far is eye-wateringly expensive and requires proxying from japan. but anyway check this thing out,
the auto translate of the jp website says
I just love that
Does this belong here?? I wanted a pro bikes hat to wear at the various bike infrastructure protests I now attend so I assembled one out of etsy purchases. The hat is a five panel camp hat made of a thin vaguely denim-y fabric with an appealing spot pattern… I wanted something bright and not boring so I’m proud of this one!!
Been doing more sewing lately to fix some stuff I have or to make banners for my bike but I am improving only slowly. Turns out this shit is super hard!!!
anything that you want to/are wearing that makes you feel cool belongs here i need to post more of my trash taste
mens spring and womens resort '24 are showing currently but yknow what’s better than new shit? old shit!! over the last month I watched all of nana and paradise kiss, which led to me going through a bunch of scans of 90s - early 00s editorials. so, here’s some of those, mostly from harper’s and vogue uk. please enjoy!
menswear and the women who wear it… i have zero suits since transitioning and got a couple weddings coming up, so hopefully something from this will fit. excited to try navy blazer gray pants i never have before actually
what does a short overweight butch trans dyke of color wear to a catholic wedding? besides a scarlet letter i mean
I refuse to wear “womens’ formal wear” so I do wear blazers to weddings! I wore a nice robin’s egg blue blazer to a Catholic wedding once. I have found personally that people get what I’m going for more when I wear some spring-timey colors. I guess I am lucky that most all of the weddings I attend are in the spring or summer! I have no idea what I’d wear to a cold weather wedding, haha.
True these are summer weddings… I was thinking about a light blue double breasted blazer but I worried it would stick out too much and be hard to coordinate a fit… psyched myself out
Bristol blazer in stretch linen blend, idk what pants would look good, my color options limited cuz I don’t like women’s pants fit and menswear tends not to be experimental this way at this price point
idk I think that color blazer w like white pants cream shirt could work.
I was also wearing sport coats suit jackets etc a lot before it got too warm for it but usually over a dress and only as a full suit in situations where I could get away w not wearing a shirt
oh yeah the fw23 couture shows happened last week and guess what?? I didn’t like em! well, with one exception…
jpg, babey!! gaultier himself has been out since 2020, so this is the latest in a series of guest designed collections, here by julian dossena of paco rabanne. is it good? well, I like to look at it, but nearly every look as far as I can tell is pulled more-or-less directly from some earlier collection, including the pretty great but also let’s say “questionable” fw93, Rabbi Chic:
this collection haunts me. it’s impossible to find hi res images of it! at least there’s a video:
remember when models used to smile? and ham it up? I remember, and so does Robert Altman. my stupid hunt for pics led to me watching his critically panned (but imo delightful) 1994 Pret-a-Porter (released in the US as Ready to Wear, because of course it was). gaultier himself is in it! they shot it at Paris fashion week for spring 94! critics then were mad because it isn’t MASH, critics now are mad because it isn’t Nashville, critics of every era seem to think it’s not effective satire. buddy, it’s not satire. it’s delighted by the silliness and vanity and hypocrisy. it actually understands, contra like every other movie ostensibly about it, that fashion is the emperor that loves to tell you it’s got no clothes on. and Lyle Lovett is there for some reason!
I can’t be mad at that.
jpg is immortal for having done legendary post-watershed channel 4 series eurotrash for however many seasons when i were a teenager
contemporary designers could never
for my birthday @Caput_Mortuum took me to the “fashion fictions” exhibit at the vancouver art gallery and i was just over the moon
these Jun Takahashi x Evangelion jackets welcome you in. i really love the monoeye hood
really wonderful seeing these pieces up close and getting to appreciate all the details
gorgeous Rei Kawakubo dress
the headdresses from Bjork’s Vulnicura album art and music videos by Maiko Takeda. each quill has a slightly different gradient to give the overall effect, something i hadn’t noticed until i saw it in person
forgot to note the artist here, each of these ball caps was worn by a labourer for a while then treated with a chemical that crystallized the sweat residues left in the fabric, making a unique sculpture based on their lives
so i acquired these, every single upper pulls in the bust area slightly, the ones that are less so are too blousy around. the pants too are a bit too wide. it’s not awful but im realizing again that im not wideset so much as top heavy for these patterns. sending back the grey pants and white shirt, gonna try to size down in the athletic fit pants, and try the size up slim fit shirt
i guess finding your size in different brands is as much art as science
