Far: Lone Sails (Pieces of Journey, Inside, and Lovers in a DS)

Although I don’t remember hearing anything about this game other than maybe the name, something must have made me think I’d like it because it was in my wish list. I did like it, and I think it deserves attention.

You control a tiny character who must fuel and maintain a steam-powered vehicle in a journey across a post-apocalyptic landscape. There are puzzle elements and the game keeps you busy doing things, but it’s really more about the atmosphere and the bond that you form with your vehicle than about challenge.

FAR: lone sails is a chill game and i like it a lot. great mix of wanting your ship to go faster and faster, doing busy-work to keep everything in order and wanting to stand idle looking at the landscape.

I could include better screenshots, but I don’t want to reveal too much. Looks like it’s available on all the major platforms. I played it on PS4. (It’s discounted for the weekend, and that’s how I was reminded that it exists.)

I don’t want to give the impression that it has exactly the same appeal as any of those other games, but the shared traits are there for sure.

It has a good dynamic soundtrack, too.

yeah i think these peeps just have a design style i dig, i love being able to sense a developers style through different projects
