absolutely seconded!
it’s like they totally forgot what made the series become a mainstream hit (fxxking around with cars that are not expected/forseen to go as fast as we make them go) and some manager read ‘People Like SUVs!’ and alas, ‘put em truxxx in dat game and make races!’
would Love to see retention numbers for those addons that focussed on squishy trucks
is there also a, uh, pre-owned Mazda 323 beer?
a sentence where attribution makes a huge difference…
my first car was an '89 mazda 626 :0
having fun playing ea wrc all things considered… the game looks and runs pretty bad but it wins by default because it has a decently interesting career mode. other sim racing devs please take note …
there still is a chance for it to change, right?
Similar to how Palou has been sitting atop the IndyCar leaderboard for years now, there’s always the chance for a upset win or two
(tbh am kinda rootin for Palou and Dixie, since the former won in SuperGT GT300 racing, and the latter being such a masterclass driver in terms of consistency, tire mgmt, fuel economy and speeeeeed. However, i also like to see a good battle, and if it’s Power or Newgarden duelling them Ganassis, so be it)
Played some of the bad Forza today.

can’t trust these factory fuckos…
Yyyyup, rumors are still brought up around the Endurance Prototype-circle that Hyundai is seriously considering stepping up to a full-fledged programme with either a Hypercar or LMDh-type programme, or even a Hydrogen-based (H²-Hyper-Hypercar?) racecar.
Why is that interesting?
Well, currently in the WEC you get preferred treatment for bringing a top-class car to the table, so much so that they introduce a rule in 2025 that you shall bring two top-class cars per manufacturer to the WEC. That also gets you an option of putting your GT3-Offerings on show in the GT3-based second class they have, i.e. if you have a GT3 based customer programme, you can offset some of the cost of the Hypercar/LMDh costs if it’s a full-fledged factory programme.
There is an option where you can mix manufacturers (like Proton, which runs a Porsche customer LMDh plus two Ford Mustang GT3s) but considering that Acura, Audi and Benz have been turned away for the free/remaining GT3 spots last year/this season (because all of these do not have a topclass-car on offer, and no affiliation with a long-standing customer team in the WEC), that’s not a guarantee to put you on the map.
What’s more, the WEC grid is currently fully booked, i.e. they can afford to turn down teams and manufacturers trying to apply for a shot at participating, even before you turned a wheel!
So i guess that this is why Hyundai is considering the Hydrogen-Option,
- it is a tech-demo for them to showcase their niche product (you can/could buy a H²-powered car from Hyundai in Yurop, only Toyota is offering a Hydrogen-powered car as well atm),
- you can assume that the ACO/governing body will want to have at least two teams with the same tech on the grid — giving you as an outsider (no established foothold in lower class, no GT3 product, no associated/established team) the chance to massively increase the chance to get in at the top end, instead of being on the (ICE-)shortlist for ‘if someone withdraws, you may have a go’
- you get the chance to also showcase a GT3 product if you would be so inclined to step up into the likely-most-competitive-market there is atm (could also be a brand-cousin product, i.e. Kia or Genesis)
- Toyota has strongly indicated willingness to step up to H² as well
- Alpine/Renault is considering H² as well (probably a better sell internally than having an F1 and WEC-programme with different engine programmes at the same time)
… so if you consider all that rumors and ‘some say’, it depends on if you want to gun for a new class in 2028 or have it up&running now™, when success for even being allowed in is impossible to predict.
Questione then is: Do you go on development hiatus for a few years for H² Option? Or hope someone jumps off the over-subscribed Train?
Not an easy one to pitch/sell to a mgmt board, i guess.
boooo. god clearly loves neuville
Not sure how Ogier came to be Neuville’s main adversary en route to his first WRC title, but that’s going to be an interesting season recap to watch
(n.b. same thing applies for NASCAR and IMSA GTP this year, have been following Indycar closely and saw that play out for next weekends’ title decider)
btw, re Hyundai:
hey, what the—
That’s a though sell for someone like m—
“Not a single person in the team owns a car, or even likes cars,” says Tim Garbos, the game’s creative director at Copenhagen studio Triband.
“That might seem wrong when we’re making a car game, but it has enabled us to naively misunderstand all sorts of things about cars.”
what the golf was fantastic so this has been on my wishlist since it was announced
btw re: Hyun—
GENESIS DOES
WHAT HYUNDON’T
So hey, apparently you-as-of-Emerica supposedly has gotten a lot of these
Corolla Liftbacks in the early eighties, and this model, albeit one year younger than moi, has held up astonishingly well. Better than my body, that’s for sure
But anyway, that’s as rare a drop as it gets, its been imported from the Nederlands/worlds with 25k on the clock, and in pristine condition. Unbe-effen-livable since if you saw a corolla here, it was the fastback or hatchback.
Let’s see who turns up to the japanese car meet I’m headed to later today!
well, many japanese cars turned up to a japanese-themef cars&coffee, who’d have thought!
that’s a… Strosek Ultra 928 Bodykit, and a 928 somewhere between that bits. Not really japanese (but still cool, aye)
missing a yellow nissan, then that’d would have been a good capture!
Mio ami, tres bien…
can you 1up the—
seriously and hot contender for coolest car, … if it wasn’t for this fine example of taste and restraint:
for not giving a damn about what your neighbours, parents, significant other may say or think, that gets my vote for “you did it!”
and last but not least, best shot of the day after all those japanese beauties:
an Alfa C8 in the wild
Had to wait a few minutes and needed four tries before i managed to capture that one w/o someone photobombing the shot.
