Game is good. I’m a bit cynical with all the PR photo faces helping me out, but I like the dude who coached me through the B license.

The UI is just as perplexing as GT Sport.

I was initially frustrated with having to tell it how I like to use my DualShock 4 when sitting there at a G29, but it just knows what to do when you start driving.

It took me way longer than it should have to figure out how to switch to manual transmission :joy:

Driving dynamics seem great so far. I haven’t driven anything too punishing yet. The Demio is a fuckin’ riot.

The load times on a ps4 pro with ssd are longer than I’d like. It’ll be fun to some day upgrade to a ps5.

And yeah holy shit this game is gorgeous! Polyphony are masters of car surfaces and lighting.

Crank up the tire volume in the sound options!

I’m having more fun with it than GT Sport but this campaign is a trainwreck. It takes so many design mistakes from last games and just smushes them together into this weird blob

I have played this game for 7 hours, and somehow I’m two thirds of the way through it, yet I only have three races I can use the race car I got as a reward for the I-B license in. You can literally blow your credits on cars that you have no legal place to use them in until (presumably) the end of the game and you can’t even sell it back to unfuck yourself

There is so much galaxy brain stuff but I’m trying to save it for the podcast

Wow! @slime did mention you were like 2/3 of the way through the game after seven hours. I was pretty perplexed as that kind of progress takes weeks to months in most GT games :woman_shrugging:

Hmm. Disappointing.

that’s pretty concerning, especially for a GT game!

the campaign is pretty baffling so far, it doesn’t really have a good rhythm at all.

i actually LOVE the way the UI looks, reminds me of an alternate universe apple that didn’t totally reject skeuomorphism when they threw out scott forestall. (that’s mostly a sentence for @Sakurina ) , but the way they organize everything is a bit goofy.

why is everything track-centric? it’s nice to see things like circuit experience made it over from GTSport, but i didn’t even notice it was there till a few hours in. why can’t it just have a category? where is my big list of banner race events? why haven’t i needed to finish a single license yet?

the game itself is really good. did a two-series track day at high speed ring. it was sunny, but by the end of the race it looked like it was about to rain. then at the start of the second race, it WAS raining! i was like, hey, they’re telling a story! neat! anyway the rain effects looked really good, and i’m still just playing on a PS4 pro.

At the end of the day this may just have to be a game about picking a car and enjoying a race/drive and less about progressing through whatever the hell this game mode even is. I’m still unlocking cafe menus or whatever.

no that’s the campaign

Wild. So far it seems to really just want to push you to be a collector. It feels like less of a celebration and deep dive of whatever very specific car model you are going to live with for a while and more about punching collection tickets.

I always felt that vibe from Forza but not GT. Unless my memory is off.

also, Soyo’s in-dev and currently paid-only Osaka Loop course is shaping up very nicely

Why the FUCK does this game force you to start playing the boring ass music rally mode with a shitty classic music medley in an ancient RR car with awful brakes of all things?? It showed me like 6 songs/cars I could pick from but it just like made a disappointed noise on any but the first one. Why show me stuff you just won’t let me do for whatever reason?? Baffling intro to the game. Also when it finally lets you press the “Start Gran Turismo 7” button (what was I doing this whole time?? Why was there a confirmation prompt??) then you get whiplash as it forces you to pick an online multiplayer name with a huge warninf that you can only change it 4 times. Who fucking CARES JUST LET ME BE A CAR

Also the giant flashing braking driving assists are incredibly obnoxious, why can’t you give me the option to just see a red racing line like Forza, it’s perfect for babies like me. And the “yeah I’ve played racing games before” preset has auto braking turned on? EXCUSE ME?? Is this mario kart? Get outta here

Piss poor start to the game

Does this game have built in internet radio ala euro/american trucker?

Not exactly, afaik? But, there are some specific, sophisticated cars (apparently some of the first-party cars, as well) that people have made that have operable in-car screens with Spotify/Youtube/Windows media-display capabilities, let you click on the screen in the cockpit view with the mouse, and if I’m not mistaken have even implemented CarPlay/Android Auto to some degree?, though.

Welp, that is even cooler!

i wish it was mario kart, that game doesn’t require you to play for several hours just to have your friend join in split screen only to force them into one specific assistance preset

Really pine for the days when you could just put the disc in and play the whole game, jesus. This slow drip is really annoying. It’s a fucking racing game, do we really need our hands held so much? Buy car, race car, tune car, repeat. The menus could be cool but the “incredible stories” are like, mass producing cars made them affordable, here’s a couple, maybe I’ll tell you more later idk

The game is absolutely gorgeous and the cars and their interiors are beautiful but as a game it has yet to wow me (if you can’t tell). Feels like it’s trying to hide parts if itself and it’s GT history for some reason

Also you can’t undo stuff like upgrading the camshaft…? Why? It’s a fucking video game who cares if it’s expensive in real life
