God. That silver Audi 200 is so bad ass. Such a sleeper! A car most people wouldn’t even notice that can walk an LF-A.
Also Randy Prost is in that video. My dad saw him in a video once and said he looked more like an accountant than a racing driver. We looked him up, and he has a degree in accounting
Back when I worked at microsoft I did work for Forza Motorsport 6’s DLC, which included a new track - Virginia International Raceway. Turn 10 liked to pad the number of layouts each track had to make more “tracks” for players to drive on, since making tracks is incredibly expensive. One of these layouts is called “Patriot Alt” and does not exist in real life, and thus you go through a series of corners at an oblique angle. If you cross the track at one of these points and go into the grass, your track time is invalidated automatically.
Anyway, shortly before release the art department added in an extra bit of tarmac to bridge the awkward angle of the turns. So it looks like a part of the track, except if you drive over it, the game invalidates your lap time because you exited the marked track and the game thinks you’re cutting. I warned my lead about this and he gave a nonplussed “well it’s too late to fix it” exuse before doing absolutly nothing. The day after release there was a video on how the layout was broken
Anyway, this issue is still present in Forza Motorsports 7! as you can see from the screenshots. An entire release later! They haven’t fixed it! I discovered this today after some curiosity got the better of me, and someone who had the game installed in a discord channel I’m in graciously drove the track layout so I could see for myself. There is another corner that is just like this in the layout, but is much worse. I find this incredibly funny
if one thing, the FM series did reprogram my mind to Not Care About Perfect Laps anymore, i.e. I stick to the track and still follow some OCD-esque rules, but if the game thinks this isn’t a clean lap, whatever, there were more instances where track/tarmac space seems a bit off, so ymmv.
however, as Indycar on COTA a few years ago did teach me, limits are a virtual thing.
lol yuh hes the angry videogame nerd (but gaaaaaay) of car videos. Prone to some serious hyperbole. I do enjoy his PA local BS when it comes out. hes also a sega fan so theres that.
We sort of have an “american 2JZ” (big inline 6 engine known for big power) Its the GM Vortec 4.2L. A great engine, all aluminum block with an easy flowing yamaha head and dual over head cams. Sadly it was only ever put in boring SUVs. Its getting some attention now however as an after market tuner engine but its still not a like mainstay.
This dude and his dad are developing one:
the GM Vortec 4.2L generally performs better than an equivalent, heavier/larger V8.
I wanted to second The Wraith, its a great ‘bad’ movie in that its never really that bad and it has functional pacing and good cinematography. I cant recall problematic content but make no promises (its been like 10 years). Its got movie goblin punks, desert highway racing and charlie sheen.
I will say that, with the exception of one or two of his stock characters I sort of am still amused by Brian’s Zany Voice Catalog. There’s some good jokes. He has a bad tendency to drag them out a hair too long though.
What’s more, itasha paintjobs became somewhat accepted over the course of the last few forzas (horizon + motorsport) and if there is a point in time where it started to spread, it was during the phase where namco sold THE iDOLM@STER skins for Ace Combat 6, and subsequently you could find skins of them there… this has continued up to today, where you can find some classic paintjobs that have been around for what seems like forever (911 Turbo from 991 period or Renault Megane RS Coupe come to mind) … tbh ig is part of what i like/or even worse, need from a racing game:
Give me the possibilty to make a rich tech bro wankfest hypercar acceptable, namely by applying a paintjob that’s so embarrasing for the target audience that it wraps around to being somewhat cool again
