Fading Brakelight Obscurity III - Green-Orange-Checkered Edizione

youtube has blessed me with video catnip: footage of someone taking an absolute derelict abandoned car and attempting to get it to run. Will not spoil whether he gets this one running or not he does but it reminded me of my own abandoned BMW

I had this thing in high school and it ran alright, kind of crappy, but I didn’t know what I had (an E30 BMW before memes turned all 80s bmws into race cars). I fantasize about flying back home, doing some barebones maintenance on it, and driving it back.

My favorite YouTuber who does this is Vice Grip Garage, he just has the funniest mannerisms/vibes

picked up F1 Manager 2022 and having a good time with it so far. was halfway through a race when my power cut off, so i guess i’m going to try that again later. not sure it’s worth the price if you aren’t really into F1 and this year’s drivers, but as a management sim it seems like it covers all the bases of what i’d want in an F1 game. playing on a controller kind of sucks, though - every single button is assigned to some other part of the screen (aside from like, confirm/cancel buttons), and it does make some degree of sense, but i personally find this way of dealing with PC to console control conversions to always be too cumbersome.

It is! I used this pack, but I didn’t do the step 3 reshade business.

The owner of this thing rules. I’ve only watched about half of the video, but their passion for the NYC Taxi reminds me of train nerds in the best way.

I wonder who/when will be the first to do an Eagle Jaguar / Singer Porsche -styled exhaustive six-figure turn-key Miata revamp offering?

$15k for an automatic???

Seems destined to be a collection car and not to be driven, anyway

someone should give this poor car the freedom it deserves, before grubby collectors will hide it away for profit$$$ …

seeing a low mileage example turn up at some bling classics only dealer always too often feels like someone being robbed of getting a good car for cheap and have the best time of their (driving) life, and what for, a 30ies dude that can buy a tasteless lambo or AMG benz?

Channeling my inner Tom Jones with capitalism and ‘WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR’

:tronyell:

anyway, that’s a nice Miata someone should love to enjoy curvy roads with, even with the auto box!
I love learning how to work with the automatic box, it’s like learning to live with a partner, and getting along together through hard times and enjoy the good ones…

this is how the Carby mod works in assetto corsa

well it was a weird journey but the 3drap stuff is here (for some reason DHL returned it to sender? thankfully they then dispatched it via FedEx and it got here pretty quick), so I’ll be installing it later today!

okay, in true Italian car fashion, one of the items failed the moment I attempted to fit it, so that’s great. the brake mod was the one I cared about the most, and that one seems fine, but the way you have to torque the clutch/accelerator mod makes it seem fraught. The accelerator one is still intact so I’ll see how I feel about it once I get to try it tomorrow.
