I’d drive the hell out of a simple affordable small car with a 5 speed manual.

Not really something that’s easy to find anymore in the states at least :\

the Fiat 500 driver has entered the chat

well, some Fiat 500s in the states were full manual transmission

Yeah! Discontinued, unfortunately :frowning:

yeah, in NYC there are a LOT of Fiat 500s for whatever reason (i could take a guess, but i won’t), but i know it didn’t sell so well, elsewhere. and probably manuals, especially. i feel like most MT perverts around here are usually into racing cars

although there is someone in my neighborhood with a neon yellow Suzuki Samurai that i covet

I would think the smallest car possible is insanely good for street parking and general zipping around if you have to have a car in NYC.

I had a 5 speed manual 2011 Mazda 2 that I adored, but I traded it in two years ago for a newer car (also a manual, but not as simple nor as practical :upside_down_face:).

I would get the 500e if it ever became as affordable as a car like that should be.

I also look at used 500 Abarths from time to time when I’m feeling that goofy impulse.

yeah! lot of Abarths around here, too. agreed that the idea of a sporty, quick-footed 500 is a goofy yet endearing concept.

and yea, i think the 500e looks really lovely, but the biggest challenge here would be “how do i charge it?”

my 500 is a 2012, but it only has about 46k miles on it, so it is basically still kind of a new car, and that’s why i will probably keep driving it for another 10 years.

in this way i’m glad i don’t own a home, because i would probably be tempted to get another car like a Miata or something

this is more or less exactly why I just got a motorcycle as a second vehicle, because it’s a lot cheaper than a miata, arguably more practical, and it felt less wasteful than a second car

motorcycles are neat, but i don’t really think i’m cut out for motorized-bicycle things. when i rode a Vespa for the first time in my life in Sicily, i crashed into a parked bus and broke my wrist within 10 minutes lmao

also i don’t think my wife would like it, and i don’t want one enough to have that argument. but i hear what you mean!

look into these eyes and tell that Miata you want a motorcycle instead, because it’s more sensible, cheaper, more practical

you’d have to be a monster to do so.

had the chance to do an extended test drive of the LBX last week, and came away with mixed feelings.

Looks are a subjective thing, and

the rearend

might be the most flattering angle of the whole car
if it wasn’t looking like a hack-job of raising a hatch a few inches.

Maybe the Interieur is bet—

errrr no, it isn’t. Or at least in that trim/color-combo
the attention assist function beeping can get old quickly if you’re in town and approaching roundabouts, the Touchscreen two or three leagues below the excellent haptic buttons of the ES or UX (which offers a better
 wait for it
User eXperience :smirk: ) and the digital speedo is redefining what boring looks like:

Maybe the ride is turning around the fortunes then? A resounding 'No' is the unfortunate answer. The steering rack is more zippy&darty around town, but the shorter wheelbase is adding to a busy and crashing ride, the 3 cyl engine bumbling along w/o much drama ... and that's it. 40-44 miles later, main takeaway is that the best bit of the LBX is it made me realize how good the UX is.

For someone starting out with Lexuseseseses, it’s an OK first step, but otherwise
maybe the Morizo RR version could right a few niggles.

:tarothink:

tl;dr version:
Test drive a UX instead :smirk:

The Morizo RR edition is probably a hoot! But I didn’t realize the regular spec was so boring!

the dedication to do this transporter is remarkable
i salut the madness and creativity of the creator.

even if i am not on board with his choice of trousers, but that’s just a middleaged man driving a Lexus rambling, don’t pay attention & nothing to see here :tarothink:
