Fading Brakelight Obscurity II - Championship Edition (Part 1)

My partner got a Renault Twingo 3.
Oh yeah, rear wheel, rear engine.
She got herself a porsche (or an old fiat 500).

As a matter of fact

It’s the 1.0, not the 0.9 turbo (which probably means we’ll have a car for longer).
The color is an absolute pleasure… and… small and very subtle go-faster-stripe on the side.

Partner is in love, I have been for a time, partner’s sister’s husband is green with jealousy.

Has a story though…

STORY

The car was first bought in France, someone bumped into something at very minor speed and as these cars should do, all the cheap plastic panels jumped out to release the impact (no airbags, nothing really).

In Poland there are these companies that go into the other european countries where people bump a car after 3 years and they rather buy a new one than buy a few cheap panels, brings them into Poland, fix it, put it into sale.

After that this car was bought buy a family for the wife. Now the kid was growing up, but not enough to get rid of the security chair, so basically the kid was kicking the front sit. His wife got tired and decided to sell the car which brought big pain for the husband. He loved the lovely yellow car.

So my partner when there to check the car and when she arrives there… She sees a Fiat 126p (socialist poland made), completely restored and modded to do classical rallies. Which the couple did together.

Immediately partner realized “this was a good owner”. Finally she got to see the car in person and as soon as she saw it, she started hearing in her head this music a friend shared to convince her to buy the damn yellow Twingo and not a blue C1:

Please pay attention the lyrics, specially at the start xD.
After an unnecessary talk so she wouldn’t show that she was overly excited… money exchanged, papers signed… got the car home.

So yeah… our newest member of the family =)

[edit] Can’t stop thinking about the Renault 5… I want to do stuff to this car… i can make the ENGINE GROW and fill the entire booth [/edit]

[edit2] I’m still back in Portugal, and only going back to Poland in a few months… so I won’t be able to drive it till then D= [/edit]

Aibo the robot dog? This has NO electric engine (to which I wouldn’t have a problem… the batteries would D=)

But for me… yeah… has to be like that.
Short wheel base, light car.

I only start caring about BHP after I know the weight… and lordy this weights less than a ton.
And the weight of the engine is just on top of the back traction wheels ;___;. OoOoOoHh…

Btw, I really can’t like big cars, and both myself an my partner we have a problem with estates.
Not judging or saying people shouldn’t buy them… we just wouldn’t for ourselves because there’s nothing in those cars that we like.

TBH… my absolute dream machine is the stratos, being the classic light weight 911’s a close second (but anything short wheel base, light, and back traction probably would make me feel the happiest man alive).

waaaa… so many pretty Peugeot 405 Turbo 16.
I just had to rewatch Climb Dance after this… and then rewatch that video again (however I never liked Vatanen, not even as a kid… you can smell insecurity).

205 4-door automatic was my first car, got it handed after my Mom had an accident with a deathwish Scooter driver (dui, without lights, at night…)

Car and scooter driver survived, and i learned what lift-off oversteer does to driving dynamics, how to do an emergency stop w/o ABS, shifting to neutral w/ an auto-box while keeping revs above 1000rpm, weight-transfer from back to front for improved cornering … ah, youth, good times…

dressed ip left one to be a look-alike, even tho it’s no four door auto box example :servbotsalute:

i feel myself being drawn into the shadowy, inefficient, underpowered cursed world of late 80s american luxury grand touring cars

Was about to ask what counts here. I guess the Grand National doesn’t fall under the underpowered category. For the true malaise era, try 70s cars.

:sickos:

i keep clicking on Buick Reatta and Cadillac Allanté CL listings and nodding and saying “this makes sense” out loud “we have forgotten our heritage”

Ah yes. Of course the Italian touch made it beautiful.

Edit: Damn! Same goes for the Allanté
