I recently started watching the pretty so-so 1988 Starship Troopers anime, and enjoyed this sequence of orbital insertion with a bunch of mechs IN PODS! Got not only get pods being fired into orbit but we got mechs coming out of the pods and falling to the ground!

Also was recently reminded how the first half of this movie is actually very good, particularly the drop sequence:

I’ve always liked the absurdity of Games Workshop selling an actual chunk of drop pod shaped plastic that is an actual mechanical game piece with actual rules and effects.
ODST notable for having the drop be in-engine, being able to look around. Spend more time in the pod! Everyone’s in such a hurry to get out of the pod!!
