Express Elevator(s) to Hell

The war is hopeless, the enemy is vile, dozens are felled for every inch of god-forsaken rock. You, and a dozen other poor bastards, are strapped into a coffin and fired out of a space gun directly into hell.

We love em! We love to see a drop sequence! This is a thread for em!

I recently started watching the pretty so-so 1988 Starship Troopers anime, and enjoyed this sequence of orbital insertion with a bunch of mechs IN PODS! Got not only get pods being fired into orbit but we got mechs coming out of the pods and falling to the ground!

Good shit.

Also was recently reminded how the first half of this movie is actually very good, particularly the drop sequence:

I loved dropping on people on purpose in the first game

Astartes, in addition to being arguably the greatest fanfilm of all time, opens with a completely sick ship-to-ship boarding/“drop” sequence

The final act of Redline begins with a military style death drop of the movie’s wacky racers onto a fully resistant militarized heavily Trump-coded fascist planet but I can’t find a specific clip of it on youtube

I’ve always liked the absurdity of Games Workshop selling an actual chunk of drop pod shaped plastic that is an actual mechanical game piece with actual rules and effects.

Bonus Mega Man Legends 2 drop.

The obvious Halo ones:

ODST notable for having the drop be in-engine, being able to look around. Spend more time in the pod! Everyone’s in such a hurry to get out of the pod!!
