I don’t know what some of these people are thinking. If I invade someone I try to pull off a ambush at first if I can, give them a little surprise, but I’m not going to run off through the whole the level if it goes poorly for me all “come and get me if you can hah hah haaa”, I’m not trying to live in this persons dimension I just came by for a quick assassination and I got my own game to get back to too
Lmao some of my friends including Kevin were workshopping anti-horny messages to put in this spot, haha, and this is the one they selected and posted on twitter. My contributions were:
- No two handing ahead, try one handing
- no two handing ahead, try circling around
- no taking on all at once, try one handing
I did not exactly follow the goals here hahaha
I’ve been lost for an hour in a dungeon that’s nothing but transporter trap chests and identical rooms. I’ve killed all the enemies and thrown the switch I just can’t find the way back to the entrance. yes… this is the pain I’ve been waiting for! finally a worthy battlefield for me
I also got stuck in that place forever. on the plus side, the boss falls over
moonveil + fp regen on crit talisman + mimic tear
or blood uchigatana + seppuku
If you or anyone else wants to know the secret:
There are I think two identical dungeons and every time you teleport you might be going to the clone dungeon with different loot and enemies. If you walk straight forward out the opposing door when you pull the lever, however, you will find yourself back at the start of the first dungeon where you had the site of grace and access to the boss doors.
this game is testing my theory that i will lose interest in any game after 30-40 hours. i feel the lust of play slowly draining from me, BUT
every time i think “i’m done playing for tonight…” i end up playing more an hour or two later.
so, bravo, FromSoftware.
i’m kind of just looking for things to do around the world. Tower of Caelid enemies do a lot of damage to me; i also do a lot of damage to them, but it’s a hassle so i’m gonna save it for later. similar with the Study Hall. both of these places feel like they are within my grasp but maybe just out of reach.
in the meantime, i’m debating whether or not i want to rebuild my character when i finally get the necessary items. the curved blade i’ve been using is really strong, but i have so much magic that i will never be able to use on my current path.
one thing I really dislike about this game is they pretty much want you to put half your points into vigor if you want to tank more than 2 hits, which is boring as hell. no one wants to put a bunch of points into HP. you get nothing from having HP. it’s just a bigger bar. I think if they do yet another souls game in the future, your HP should just go up a little every level, like the defensive stats, instead of being something you have to commit to.
The rational side of me thinks that’d kill no-leveling playthrough. And even though I don’t do them, I think the skill ceiling for no-leveling runs is really inspiring/motivating for my own play.
The lol side of me thinks it’s hilarious that players that avoid the defensive stats get sad about how hard the game gets.
That said, I think there could be more interesting ways to build characters than picking a stat. Choosing a particular build and then the game randomly picking a stat to get you to that build would be interesting. Builds could be shown to the player in a more diegetic way — you level up at the paladin trainer and your HP/Str/Faith go up.
Idk if I like that, but that’d be an acceptable “Ubisoft” way to make FROM games more acceptable.
On that note, wtf is up w/ the faith path being for assassins. I kind of love it, but it’s kind of wild.
I’ve been perusing the SoulsSliders and EldenBling subreddits for character creation magic. There are some diamonds in that rough, but the rough is really rough.
well one of the problems is everyone has played ten fromsoft games, and none of those games required you to be so dedicated to HP. also, there’s a difference between just ignoring it, and not knowing that it’s actually supposed to be your highest stat at all times unless you feel like making the game hard. and I do feel like making the game hard, because like I said, HP is boring. but it should be like a safety valve stat rather than a mandatory one.
anyway, I’m pretty edgelord now, running powerstanced unique faith scythes. it’s a lot of damage.
I’ve always glass cannoned most From games because you can and it’s just more efficient. For this one… I dunno. I’ve put way more points into Vigor than I usually do and stuff still two-shots me. I’m trying to build towards some high level sorceries but I still need 15 more int to do that and I also need like 10 more vigor and 10 more mind so I don’t tap out on fp instantly, etc. etc.
Every build feels very hungry in this game. It seems to want you to have something all the stats and yet there are still ability requirements in the 60s on many items
this is me
i’m actually leveling up vigor right now because i’m accidentally kind of tanky? despite primarily using Dex scaling weapons and going for bleed, I actually just use my shield a lot and am trying to wear the heaviest armor I can find. I beat a miniboss by just accepting that I was going to get hit by one specific attack and that the damage tradeoff was worth it.
But it’s sort of hard to play this way with 12 vigor.
Also I’m finding that sorta-kinda multiclassing is really good for solo play. I’m pretty invested into STR, DEX and END all at once, and I regularly switch between a great curved sword, a scythe, a flail, and whatever they call the weapons that let you use incantations. Oh, and a bow now.
Hell I even put a staff in my left hand for a while since there was a sorcery I liked. I’m pretty versatile.
That means that my damage output is a little low compared to the people I’ve summoned though! I tend to try to take the role of getting in bosses faces and being really irritating so the damage dealers can just, deal damage.
Yeah, I’ve got points in everything except INT and MIND (I’m not a nerd), and the versality is incredibly helpful given that (1) I can’t parry and (2) I don’t know the meta so I can’t build around one tactic that steamrolls everything.
I don’t feel like I’m wasting points yet because it’s still pretty easy to gain levels.
I had been trying out different elemental ashes of war on my claymore. The last one I hadn’t yet tried is ice, and the special ability for that one (the stomp) is so powerful it feels like cheating. It slows enemies down and does a huge amount of damage to most, including bosses. Somehow it feels even more cheap than using poison arrows without engaging, maybe because it works so quickly.
Ice feels like the rarest element that you can conjure yourself in that it’s mostly associated with high level magic
