Elden Ring 2

This game is shopping/gambling with your time*fight-skill until you test >that< skill against random bosses and super bosses.

I wish there was less randomness

It could even be harder if they just let us re-do the bosses

I think I made my party rage quit. We got hit by the libra curse thing really low level and he kept kicking our asses. So after the we all got killed a third time and he still has mostly a full life bar, I grabbed my runes and ran thinking the move would be to level up elsewhere and come back to him, but they both disconnected.

you should NOT fight libra unless it’s the end of day 2. just pay the man and get your buff

I feel vindicated! That was not a level 3 fight.

People keep trying to start shit with whatever boss (that deer spirit guy or one of the dragons) in the marshy area by one of the chapel ruins (Midwest princess) too late in the day and the rain comes and breaks the fight up.

They need to do something with the relic system. The only live service-like games I’ve ever played is Masterduel, so I don’t have a lot of comparisons, but they need stuff like search for a keyword, pick an effect and find all relics with that effect, pay more to have a specific effect when you generate a random relic. Just in general the process of spending your money to generate random relics, spend ten minutes selling all the stuff you just made, is really bad

there are some sorting options, which i only mention in case you missed them because i did for a while. they’re nowhere near enough though, i agree it’s mostly a nightmare

you should also be able to flag them to sell, or just sell them from the same menu you use to load them into chalices

New boss glitch where one of the three bosses leaves and never returns

Summary

I can either quit and incur a penalty or exist forever in my purgatory

I am the worst fucking player in this game, god damn. had a run with a god tier revenant player. our duchess afked out on nameless king, we kill the boss and fight darkdrift. I fucking died 6 times on darkdrift, my rev is dodging everything while rezing me over and over. I would get up and just immediately die again, absolute dead weight. that rev would’ve solod the boss without issue if I wasn’t there, worst fucking feeling ever. the second she died I just alt f4’d, do not want or deserve whatever those rewards were gonna be.

i had a great round with random players this morning, it was 2 wylders with me as recluse, self-reliant introvert team comp. our end boss was super gaping jaw but none of us bothered with poison, which seems like a trap option vs this version of the boss.

i put no effort into tracking my teammates positions, the wylders just independently spidermanned around with their grappling hooks about 4 or 5 dodge rolls away from me. one of them had a legendary lightning weapon called the dragon king’s cragblade, and by harvesting the lightning residue and combining it with that of my sorceries, i was able to consistently use one of the strongest magic cocktails, the one that acts like moonveil’s weapon art.

the rng had blessed me with a highly dependable crystal staff, with a magic shotgun light attack and a low-commitment medium-range gravity spell in the heavy slot. we raided a mine immediately on day one, so by the time we started clearing the castle i had it maximally upgraded. in the castle, i found a greatshield and a holy rusted anchor with prayerful strike - for the rest of the round, i hid behind that shield and used the crystal staff, occasionally swapping to the anchor to heal myself when it seemed safe to.

we melted the ancient dragon, our day 2 end boss, so quickly that the game immediately presented us with a second end boss (ā€œThe Night threatens us anewā€), the nox dragonkin soldier, which was also extremely vulnerable to my free-aimed magic shotgun and the insane poise damage put out by the wylders

i had to be rescued 5 times in total, always falling to enemies that lunged at me unexpectedly from the middle distance while i was committed to a casting animation, but it never inconvenienced the wylders much, four times out of the five the one called Raven would just appear out of nowhere and explode me with a bomb or wail on me with dual greatswords for a few seconds and then grappling hook away. from the log, it appears neither of the wylders went down a single time

today i was playing raider with a revenant and an ironeye. the revenant was a pro gamer and led us on a very specific, winding path through the eternal city mega-castle event, starting immediately on day one. apparently there’s a low level half to the place if you keep going through the alley behind the merchant near the front door and it’s totally viable to level up from 1 there, albeit it’s heavy on experience and light on loot.

the city wasn’t in the circle on the second half of day 1, so we left and killed some field bosses and got some estus, then came back on day 2. despite the revenant spamming her position once a second on her path through the high level parts of the city, ironeye wandered around lost the entire time while the two of us took on a succession of minibosses as a duo, then got to the goth space scorpion at the end of the dungeon and beat our heads against it for a while, ultimately failing to take it down before the rain engulfed the room at the end of the day. revenant flagged her current position in anger for about 15 seconds straight as we ran to the day 2 end boss

i was pretty proud of myself during the final boss fight against the super centaur; i used the knowledge that raider cannot die while he’s using his cooldown hyperarmor ability to tank the boss’s biggest attacks in complete confidence, and i stayed close enough that i disabled his power-up move 3 times by whacking him with a lightning infused colossal hammer before he finally managed to get it off. revenant continued putting in expert work, and ironeye continued fucking up throughout the boss fight, and the second time he dropped with 3 pie slices we ignored him and tried to finish off the boss ourselves

he killed both of us when he had 5% health left, but fucking ironeye had picked up a wending grace at some point on day 2, and he effortlessly rezzed both of us while the boss was off break-dancing or something, we finished off the centaur as a trio, and the revenant did the ā€œcollapse into a fetal positionā€ emote

Taking a moment to appreciate the team synergy of Wylder, Duchess, and small angry face

Had what seemed to be a perfect run against Libra including snagging the secret of the blighted forest or whatever giving me a mondo sized regenerating life bar, and we we were probably only two or three swings from taking him down when we got wiped in rapid succession. I missed with my guardian dive bomb when the first team mate went down and died right after so I guess it’s on me.

I unlocked the extra boss but I wanted to try to take out the rest of the normal ones first. Haven’t really made much progress in so far as outfitting my character. I’ve settled on something that boosts halberd attacks, that book that gives me a whirlwind attack when I charge the strong swing, and one that boosts my poise and lets me reflect damage when I use the steel guard move (which took me forever to get a feel for and probably broke my general Souls reflexes in the process, the same way I have a constant impulse to crouching roundhouse anyone landing from a jump in non SFA3 SFs).

Took down the night creeper leader or whatever he is last night the first time I faced him. As usual in this game I never know where to chalk that up to the luck of who I got matched with or what. We were off to a really bad start after they opened up a gaol with the god skin duo right off the bat while we were still level 1. Got killed over and over and I was worried the first day would be over before we finished but I managed to jump all the way to level 6 after we finally killed them and went on to work up to 9 by the first boss. I had just opened up the lost city event so we hit that on day 2 and took down that space bug meteor guy at the end along with a bunch of smaller dudes in there. The crew I was with knew the path so it went very fast (but I was a little worried about getting lost trying to keep up). Got out of there with a bunch of good equipment, and had still had a bit of a healthy buffer before the second night fight right outside of the city.

I didn’t really get what the ending was all about. I think I need to finally finish Elden ring—I’m so close!

I think the shittiest thing that happened when I was on yesterday was trying to use one of those eagle trees to get out of the rain in the volcano after we dragged our feet killing that gargoyle at the bottom, and helplessly realizing even a full health bar wouldn’t get me the full ride there.

People keep fucking doing this! I don’t get it! Level 14 with 6 flasks is way better than Level 10 with 8 flasks!

i remember doing this a lot during launch week, before people were familiar with the layouts of the dungeons, or where the field bosses live, or how the character progression really worked

i just had a disappointing run against super adel - i was raider and went with double colossal weapons when i probably should have gone with one and a greatshield. he’s a frustrating boss to fight with melee weapons because he never holds still and his repositioning damages you most of the time. i could never get a prayerful strike off, and my bloodborne health regen was useless because by the time i was done chasing him for the next hit, the effect would always wear off. i’m probably not going to try fighting him as raider again, but if i did i would just plink him with a greatbow endlessly

Thankfully I’ve only been in one game where no one had a plan. I’m still not even sure of how to even place a marker to step up (and those button prompts are so fucking small to read for me).
