Beat the DLC, felt like chucking a bunch of fresh strawberries on a wedding cake. Found two bosses difficult and none of them were the last one. Appreciate how ALL the new stuff for mages suck. I will never care about the story in any of these games and glad this continues to be off hands. Curious to see what Bluepoint does with the remake in a few decades.
Just got into the DLC.
I too ha the āhow do I play this againā moment but Im back in. I actually found a cave I never went into in an early game area I walked through and one-shotād a boss.
I am not good enough for souls games. Im like level 132 at 120 hours lol. Decided to pay for online to get help beating Mog (Mr Blood) to even get to the DLC because I cant beat his second form. Got matched with a melee heavy player who kept them knocked down while I spell blasted mog to death. Between me hitting him in the air and other player striking on the ground we got em in the second round.
Weird starting out in the DLC I expected some like merchant or character from the main game to be like āoh hello, welcomeā. Nope. Gotta figure out what this place is all about on my own.
Iām excited for multiplayer stuff like being invaded and helping people. I gotta say the glowing comments kinda mess up the look a little, kinda cuts down on the dread.
There is exactly One good piece of armour in the DLC for mages and you can only get it after you beat the final boss. GOTY.
just alternating between dying to the last boss over and over and fruitlessly wandering around trying to find some path to get to anywhere new on the map now
Iāve liked the name āPlacidusaxā since the first time I saw it, but when a character in the DLC said it aloud I learned that Iāve been pronouncing it incorrectly in my mind. Iāve never said it or heard anyone else say it before. Itās only ever been in writing.
Iāve timestamped this video to the part where she says it:
I found that other dragon she mentions but it killed me in one shot as I was trying to run away.

defeated shadow of erdtree (boy howdy i hope thats the bosses name wouldnt i look silly otherwise) with eeg controls
the eGirls are evolving, all hail the EEGirls???
I had to just look up the two tiny cave hole entrances that end up leading to the rest of the 3/5ths of the map. not sure that was the best way to go in their open world game
if youāre referring to dragon pit and bonny village Iām fairly chuffed that I actually found those organically for a change
skipping these posts to preserve my purity but also provide an update
i havenāt felt like re-running the big long hdmi cable from the PC to the TV, but I have discovered Whiskey doesnāt require admin permissions, we back up in āem, the state of the macintosh is strong, etc.
wasnāt dragon pit it was the place that has the map piece that includes dragon pit, same with the north west place. two times you got to go to some cave in the middle of nowhere that leads on some roundabout route to eventually arrive at the map piece for a section youāve probably already half explored by then. the village, I found the spot earlier but it looked like it wasnāt drop safe, some messages and bloodstains made it seem like it wasnāt drop safe, so I assumed it was showing me some place that was accessible some other way, so I had to read about that too, and then it turned out it is far enough a drop to take damage but not enough to die, which I canāt remember any other place you have to fall to reach an area doing. they could of just had I donāt know more than one tiny hole leading to each area, itās not like these areas are like the base game with a catacomb every five feet, theyāre a lot more empty
greyndell
really like the game of thrones looking military encampment
also cool how you magic horse jump into a fort that you canāt horse out of
mesmer I had to pay attention and put some effort in but everything else in the game has been nothing a giant sword (with lionās claw savage edition) and a mimic couldnāt handle except the last bossā 2nd form, even going from scudtree level 14 to 18. Iām making it harder by summoning the npc guy but I wanted to finish his quest. guy breathes and half my health is gone. hardest part of the game otherwise is trying to get to places you can see on the map
itās interesting what different people find difficult in these games across different skill levels, like how Iām trying to put as little effort in mechanical mastery playing them as I can and can breeze through most of it, while some expert malenia duelist might struggle with some guy whose head I caved in in three hits etc, makes you think about the uniqueness of human minds or something, but then thereās the same 3 ancient unfunny jokes repeated eternally across every surface of this 200 hour game that leaves you feeling like weāre identical soulless flesh sacks responding to stimuli with the same handful of preprogrammed responses, barely any more conscious than a dog. yeah really makes you wonder huh
accidentally reached mesmer
got crushed
having a pretty good time
i now have my cool golden greataxe with the anime ash of war. the AR is a bit lower than my old weapon but i think the poise damage + the unique ash of war make up for it. surprisingly easy to switch movesets after spending 50 hours only playing with halberds.
there is still an armor set and a couple of talismans i want to wrap up the build, but i can go back to wandering aimlessly without having that annoying itch on the back of my mind
on this one thereās a staircase you go down and i stopped at the bottom to read a message that read āfirst message, then explosionā. i was immediately blasted by a cannon-mouth gargoyle and sent flying backwards. so damn funny
personally it bugs me how they start punishing the player for queueing rolls starting in dark souls 3. the first souls game i got into was dark souls 2 on a display with a long delay, so i got used to playing predicatively an action or 2 into the future and queueing actions long in advance. itās a hard habit to break since elden ring still lets you get away with it most of the time, especially if you use bloodhound step. but the golden hippopotamus is designed to fuck with you for queueing bloodhound step the way that a solid 15% of the enemies in elden ring are designed to fuck with you for queueing dodge rolls
i like slow, clunky, predictable souls combat, the kind thatās practically turn based. imo overcoming reaction based challenges can be satisfying but itās also stressful and annoying
