oh right the release date is 6/21. armored core crossover confirmed
I caught the Geopoliticus Child reference too, love it. Who else is taking inspiration from Dali in the AAA world?
only games auteur George RR Martin!
I figure Miquella is like the main character of whatever story this DLC is trying to tell, but when I see him presented so thoroughly in the trailer I wonder if that can be trueā¦
The promise of still more Dark Souls bosses makes me a little tired.
yeah I let other players bail my ass out a lot in elden ring because I was kind of too tired for it at that point
I think I am mostly tired of Dark Souls bosses showing up in every other game. Playing Metroid Dread recently and was getting frustrated with half the bosses being multi-phase, dodge heavy affairs that take a half hour or so of gradually sussing out the patterns
Elden had my favorite of Those Kind of bosses in a soulsform yet (not counting Sekiro) but i agree the pendulum needs to swing back toward demonssouls style Boss as narrative spectacle/setpiece over CHALLENGE CHALLENGE CHALLENGE. Artorias has much to answer for
easier bosses, harder levels would be nice. i suppose the side dungeons in elden ring were like that, but you only had to learn how to deal with stone imps and rolling chariot statues once. that game has a real lack of bottomless pits
genuinely the best thing Elden Ring did was cut way back on the boss run-ups/be generally more judicious about them like i loved fighting Margot and Radahn and even some of the more frustrating evergaol bosses because i didnt need to hike three miles past two dozen enemies every time. Itās a balancing act that worked mostly perfect in Demons Souls (cuz as you say, they balanced boss difficulty:level difficulty) and has been an odd fit since
Iāve been playing Boss Hunt The Game (MHW) a lot, and itās souring me on Souls combat in general. I think it would be exhausting to graft MonHun directly onto Souls, but, also, I think thereās just so much to learn from it.
iād be cool with the bosses if i felt i were learning a general skillset but to date theyāve never avoided the problem of idiosyncratic bottlenecks
for example in Sekiro learning to fight genichiro is cool in the end because its principles underlie most of the game, but guardian ape and the snake-eyes minibosses ground everything else to a halt until i memorised the exact timing of special attacks i wouldnāt see again
Exploring a Familiar World Full of New Secrets
ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree takes players beyond the Lands Between to explore the Land of Shadow, a completely new world from ELDEN RING.
Players can seamlessly travel back and forth between its vast maps interspersed with diverse situations and meticulous dungeons where menacing enemies roam.
Oh, hmm. So it is indeed some dark/light world situation. Maybe Iām misreading.
FromSoft has also developed its approach to field design. Previously the divide between field and dungeon areas was quite distinct. āThis time, we wanted to go more in depth and bring a denser and richer level design, which brings these types of layout together a little more seamlessly,ā said Miyazaki. āThere of course will be large open areas, there of course will be legacy dungeons, but weāve also experimented with something a little more in-between these as well to bring a more diverse gameplay experience.ā
excellent
Iād forgotten about the announcement of the announcement until a coworker walked up to my desk yesterday at work and asked me whether Iād watched the DLC trailer.
While I have no intention of watching the trailer because I want everything to be a surprise, thinking about Elden Ring again reminded me of the time I felt like Iād never be able to beat Maliketh. I complained along those lines in this thread and Rudie jumped right into my game and helped me win the fight.
I instantly obliterated Maliketh with pre-nerf Hoarfrost Stomp, so I have no clue what his patterns are and it would probably be the second-hardest boss in the game for me if I replayed ER
Reminds me of how launch-day Bloodborne had a severe AI glitch that made bosses forget all but one attack if you left the PS4 in sleep mode for too long. I couldnāt see why anyone struggled with Amelia, it was basically a Demonās Souls boss
