Elden Ring 2

I was intending to do the chaos ending but then they stated that human individuality and souls and births only exist because of the tree. so I just went chaos long enough to use myself as kindling so the gal wouldn’t have to do it then cured myself with the needle which I had to look up what to do with the needle to turn it into miquella’s needle. I looked up the chaos ending after though and it seemed like the coolest ending if melina is still alive for it

I can’t ever remember anyone’s names. melina, who seems connected to ranni aka renna, malenia, miquella, millicent

The chaos ending sounds awesome but I missed everything about it unfortunately. I did manage to get past the Tower That Makes You Die and into the village of guys who shoot fire out of their eyes, which was pretty cool. Maybe I’ll have to do a replay at some point

The process is pretty cool! It was one of the neatest experiences in the whole game getting to the place where you agree to do start out on that ending.

I think it’s really disappointing how there are really only three endings in this game. Ranni and the Frenzied Flame, plus four color variations with that narrator telling you how people will look back at this moment as an Age of… whatever. It’s literally the Mass Effect 3 ending thing again. And Ranni’s ending feels like it needed one more thing for it to be truly impacting, though it had a cool what sights you will see, tarnished consort, quality I can get behind.

it seemed like the easiest ending to miss, which is always the one i want to do. and one of the things you have to do near the end is great

that ending is wild. and what is up with melina. is she the third sister and what’s his name is living in her tower??? or maybe she’s just also being controlled by ranni?

i actually missed a lot of stuff until very late (ok did everyone just talk to the doll on schedule underground on ranni line, i just never happened to sit at the right fire and see the option and so was just wandering around all game hoping i’d find a line on the ring of oath to open the last gate underground until my bud told me i was supposed to talk to someone (to be clear i admire and love this but wow that’s easy to miss)) and by the time i had become deranged enough to fruitlessly murder a woman i thought might be a maiden to bloody a cloth i’d found in the eleventh hour just because i thought it might lead to me finding out if the guy i killed called the lord of blood was actually the lord of blood or what in the fuck i kind of decided i might let my miserable character’s journey end and check out the rest next time

also i can’t believe nobody mentioned how hilarious it is that the loathsome dung eater is the character with the solaire sun on his chest. incredible

this seems like the single hardest set of ending criteria to achieve – bonus if it tied into Ranni’s somehow on top of all that – and it would be cool if there was, like, a “reunite the sisters” path that required you to do all this, instead of the needle being just a nullification of another route

I’m 66 hours in and only just defeated the second boss lol

(the Raya Lucaria mom lady)

Lol well I’m 80 hours in with only one rune (but a basically complete map).

I can get Radahn down to 50% but those homing rocks wreck my shit every time.
I can get Rennala (Raya Lucaria mooon mom) down to like 20%, I’m pretty sure I can beat her but she has one really fast slashy ash summon that can break my stance and end me while on the ground. I’m not sure if I should just keep trying until I get a lucky fight or what.

I’m just begrudgingly putting my runes into HP right now until I can figure something else out, Apparently I can let my PS4 go online and get an easier version of Radhan but Ive already dealt with the other ways they have made him easier so ehh I dunno.

That was my third boss! I did Radahn second (but then obviously momlady seemed really easy).

I hate to break it to you but Radahn also locks a large portion of map. Hope you like map!

When you say lock you mean before or after vanquishing him? (Obviously there’s a big hole leading to the forgotten city now he’s dead but do you mean i’d better have thoroughly explored what was there before?)

Only in terms of progress. He’s technically completely optional apart from the extra areas he’s gatekeeping

Beat Niall by incorporating some Death’s Poker’s Ghostflame Ignition (aka Hoarfrost Stomp’s Revenge). Summon Buddy #1 went in lasers blazing straight ahead and before Summon Buddy #2 and I could run over and draw the pissed off knights away from them they were fried. The two of us got Niall down to 25% before Summon Buddy #2 died and from that point it was just a matter of dancing the dance, turned out kinda not boring after all (even if the setup is kinda hacky).

The way that you have to toggle the actions to use the s e c r e t medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold made me chuckle, I almost overlooked it. Getting bad vibes immediately from the subsequent area (I might go back and try to figure out Sellen’s questline/anything I might have missed at Volcano Manor in the meantime).

Nah I just mean he gates all the late game underground stuff, Ranni’s quest etc. I don’t think his death removes anything useful from the map

I imagine they didn’t want to do this because having an incredibly elaborate best ending like that is really against this series’ DNA and fair enough, not to mention the frenzied flame stuff already being pretty well hidden, but the state of the Milllicent questline and the other endings as-is makes me think “ah what the hell”

Fia’s meanwhile has the “hey, where did everybody go?” plot covered

Spent all weekend exploring farum azula and the haligtree. There’s so much to find in both of these zones–phenomenal verticality, a huge range of tones and styles within the haligtree’s various sections in particular. I love it.

If you are looking for a good rune farm I recommend Loretta. Ran her like 20 times, cleared it maybe 15 of those times, 50,000 runes a pop. Leveled up 5 times and maxed out/nearly maxed a bunch of weapons. So long as your summoner is not a goof you can carry people through that one pretty easily. Leveling up a bunch of weapons has allowed me to start experimenting with stuff I don’t normally use. I know I am in late game, but I feel no pressure to continue making progress–so many of these zones have such deep nooks and crannies to explore that I feel like I still have a ton of content to see everywhere, and I have a bunch of new weapons to do it with, too.

I’m running my head against several bosses right now and know I should change my tactics but am stupid and stubborn as I have been through the whole game. I do think it is funny at this point I get summoned and my Sacred Straight Sword does more damage than 2 curveswords or magic pew pew.

Spent an hour against the Death Bird in the snowfield, then accidentally activated the Sacred part of my SSS and it died in 3 hits. oh yeah I have been pumping faith for 90 hours and Faith/Sacred murders anything dead, dead again.

Really surprised how lightning has been almost completely useless this entire time.

Got Radagon, Naill, and 2 gargoyles on tap right now.

The sewers and volcano manor I missed who huge sections of and it was fun to discover that. Still haven’t explored all of volcano! I love Snake Men!!!

I personally think Ranni’s questline is a bit too much. Gives you 3 areas unexplored otherwise, while in Madness ending… A hole in the ground (sewers are not included cause they also give access to the catacombs).

Millicent character goes right up my alley, and I also like how the questline goes up until the closure which made little sense to me. (maybe the flower you find in the room next to Malenia’s grace is Millicent in her true form? Her outfit was there, dunno if the flower would show if I didn’t completed her questline).

But the area that her questline pushes us to pursue can be accessed anyway, maybe so can Ranni’ questline areas? And both Millicent and the rot twin sisters deserved an ending of their own tbh.

I kept wishing that Millicent was in fact Malenia with amnesia from the rot after the fight with Redhan, and that we took her all the way to her sister for her to remember, and then force us to kill her to have Miquella as consort or some tragic stuff like that.

That bird is very weak to holy =p.
Is that just a straight sword with an Ash?

Yep! Either the ash or the incantation that embeds your weapon with holy.

I forget I have it, just use the base Ash based faith damage. Now in the late game I am remembering more often to activated it because if also releases a midrange projectile that is great for final hit chip damage.
