Oh man I had no idea there was a Skyrealms of Jorune crpg
But then I go to look up a longplay and the first thing I see is this dude and I KNOW I’ve seen him before…
Developed by the same people who worked on the tabletop game! It looks very overambitious and apparently the people responsible never made another videogame but I’m still super fascinated, if only just to chat with some charmingly rendered aliens — check out the bear-people:
Also desperately need to understand what this part of the UI means:
Good writeup about it here.
busted made me play this at his house and we were screaming the entire time
the green shield is just health it changes from yellow to red if i remmeber right
Does something happen to the lil guy in the middle when your health reaches zero? Actually, don’t tell me! I’ll keep it a surprise for when I play it myself…
what we played of it is awesome but you can tell its their first game because outside of wandering around talking to people it’s like. You know. They kind of forgot to write a videogame story and the structure of the game is literally “idk man wander around and dig in the dirt” which i feel like makes it harder to get into than it should be. They made it at like the only time in computer history you could get away with doing shit like that.
Been playing it a bit over christmas and all the digging seemed really funny to me, kind of a punchline to any expectation of a proper hero’s journey like — psych! time to rummage around in the mud like a worm!
We’ll see though. I plan on sticking with it, but if it’s just hours of digging holes then, yeah, my opinion of it might start to sour a bit… maybe I ought to make a thread cuz I had to stop myself from making this post ten times longer just going into detail about all my thoughts on it so far ![]()
they both look like early vhs covers
I am the angel and the devil on your shoulder chanting THREAD THREAD THREAD
I wish everything was as good as this.
