The Wipeout games have the straight-up sickest graphic design of any game/series period.

Wipeout 3 overall design (not ships, but their colors, the teams logo/videos, and adds around the tracks) was done by The Designers Republic (tDR). They are still kinda of a big deal, but back in 99 Wipeout 3 did a BOOM to their visibility.
Can’t find it now, but I remember reading and watching pictures of some kind of (museum?) exhibition only for the work they did on Wipeout 3.
Not too sure if they did anything for the other tittles, but I think they also did the cover for the Wipeout 2097.
This article, even if a bit depressing and not much of "article"ing, has some pretty sweet pictures of the designs.
