that was the game’s selling point, though! like, to get across spike pits, you had to throw an enemy in there and jump on them
oh yeah i mean, it seems dope, just very funny that the only box art with the phrase “TORTURE YOUR ENEMIES” happens to be for the nation fondest of doing just that
Look, according to the back of the box it’s the first game to ever let you torture your enemas (edit: this was the auto-correct so it must be right) so it’s a very big accomplishment. It oozes the baditude of the 90s while simultaneously sounding like a fake game.
They’ve been working on an open source version of that called systemd
to be fair after ~650 posts we’ve mined a lot of the low-hanging fruit and I’d love to see this thread also include disc art, manual art, and strategy guide art
i’ve been noticing that a lot of famitsu guides have pretty interesting art:
Persona
Tales of Eternia
Tales of the Abyss (Remind’s me of Fennesz’s Black Sea album cover…)
Tales of Destiny 2
I used to have this. If you can’t tell, this cover is somebody wearing a St. Hermelin uniform with one of those cheap cut-out masks over his face of the protagonist!
Oh wow, seeing it on my lil phone screen I honestly thought it was just a drawing. That’s fuckin awesome
Best box art.
i still need to scan the manuals for this
love the shift in tone from deus ex 1’s box art to deus ex 2’s.

it’s almost two decades later and I didn’t know it could still hurt this much
