I always suspected the artist behing this art cover is Nihei, author of Blame! and Knights of Sydonia. Really reminds me of his style. The guy even looks like Killy.

It’s credited to Kan Takahama, so I guess they just were fans of Nihei.

Elemental Gimmick Gear has amazing art direction
I think it’s probably a discredit to say that this was made by someone who was a fan of Nihei given that its style is very different from Nihei’s style in 1999. I mean they’re both sketchy but Kan’s art has a much greater emphasis on realistic human proportions

Yes, I don’t really see the resemblance personally (and even less once you look at other illustrations made for the game on segaretro for example) but I was saying that in the context of the previous message.

I’m sure they changed or added the laser at the last minute and it completely ruined perspective, I love it
