Here is a growing collection of singleplayer mods for the official rerelease of Quake also known as Quake Enhanced or KEX Quake. Once you make a small change to your launch configuration of Quake, this collection will appear in the Add-ons menu.

i am constantly amazed and pissed at how good quake’s baked lighting looks compared to contemporary engines. and the bake times are so fast too! what gives??

A less sophisticated lighting model and a focus on stark geometric construction results in strong compositions

this looks cool, though when the description says “by some of the biggest names in the scene”… i looked at the author list and have no idea who any of those people are, as someone who has followed Doom modding on and off since like… 1999. so that feels a little silly to claim. tho maybe the pandemic changed things and they are big names in the past few years or something.

I mean they might be the biggest names in the Doom64 scene specifically. Who knew Doom64 even had a scene

Everything has a scene nowadays. You got two people? That’s a scene!

The way the Doom Eternal soundtrack is fucked up is a synecdoche for how the whole thing is a step down from Noom in every department
