I could swing for an on point Nu-Hexen/Heretic equivalent.

Play the games that started it all: DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 3 are available now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PS4! DOOM and DOOM II are also now available on iOS and Android!

DOOM –
First released in 1993, DOOM introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for. The game also includes the expansion, Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed, and the console versions will allow players to duke it out in split-screen 4-player deathmatch, as well as split-screen co-op.

DOOM II –
This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking DOOM gave players the brutal Super Shotgun to bear against deadlier demons, and the infamous boss, the Icon of Sin. The re-release of DOOM II includes The Master Levels for DOOM II (20 additional levels), and the console versions will allow users to play split-screen 4-player deathmatch, as well as split-screen co-op.

DOOM 3 –
In this critically acclaimed action-horror re-telling of the original DOOM, players must battle their way through a demon-infested facility before entering the abyss to battle Hell’s mightiest warrior - and put an end to the invasion. DOOM 3 also includes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs.

wow i just realized i don’t know a single god damn thing about doom 3

smoke comes out of the guns and it looks nice

It’s a solid attempt at a horror game that plays pretty ok but never reaches the heights of Id’s previous works.

I think it’s pretty good if you don’t mind it’s not that great as a Doom game, and take it on it’s own terms as a slower atmospheric shooter that’s mostly about showing off lighting effects.

It is me, the Doom 3 liker

It’s only good if you don’t think of it as Doom yeah that’s the key

doom 3 is basically the same game as bioshock but with more monster closets

let’s scavenge some audio logs! Environmental Storytelling

I think you meant EnViRoNmEnTaL sToRyTeLlInG.

Doom 3 is okay. It was impressive graphics tech back in 2003 but now it’s not and the game itself isn’t that good. It’s not bad but it’s not great. It’s mediocre, the worst thing to be. The guns are limp. The monsters are just ugly polygonal blobs. Everyone has horse teeth. I started it several times and played pretty far a couple times but I’ve never made it to Hell and finished and haven’t tried either of the expansions.

After twelve hours or so it’s like yep this is it. Moving forward, turning around and shooting stuff. In the dark. Room after room after room.

Using computers was the coolest thing about the game. Think about that.

Doom 3 would be much more fondly remembered if it had the grace to end after four hours

Yeah it severely overstays its welcome. The beginning thirty minutes is good setup. Seeing the base before it’s overrun is interesting. Going back through the opening area in the second thirty minutes is good too because you see the contrast. Someone should make a mod that just clips all the best bits together into one solid 4-5 hour experience.

But seriously walking up to computer screens and just automatically controlling the cursor like a real computer is brilliant and more games should be doing it. All games should be doing that basically I don’t know why they aren’t. Or maybe they are and I just haven’t noticed. I think Prey does it.
