This show shreds, by the way.
Far as I recall this is the closest to a MGS/Kojima thread, so now reading
this is incredible, I had no idea that kojima made lego models of the level designs to get a better sense of how to plan camera angles.
skip to 3:07 to see footage.
I remember talk and pics of him building lego setpieces around the MGS2 days, that video looks awesome.
He used this as a twitter profile pic for a long while
Lego is a not-uncommon 3D design tool
thatās neat! I had no idea
Sketching on paper and whiteboards is very common to rough out spaces but 3D is just so hard to get to grips with in a fast and communicative way. Legoās not particularly fast, either, but itās just such a hard problem that we donāt have great solutions.
Aspiring BFF Geoff Keighley asked Kojima why itās so important for him to make a game that isnāt the same as others, that doesnāt just replicate whatās already come before, to that Kojima provided some pretty blunt responses (full video):
Had to clean this up someā¦
HIDEO: I feel that there is no reason to create something thatās already there, I want to create new things and give more stimulation to the world. So itās like a Hollywood movie, some Hollywood movies are like, even if you see a film it doesnāt really live with youā¦people just digested it, consumed. So what I do is I want to bring something different for people to make it difficult to chew and chow down, so that it really leaves a mark when you digest my works and then move forward in your life, because you remember that feeling. And I want to get that kind of stimulation when I create my games. So yes I think weāre alike with Nicolas, I mean a lot of people love it, a lot of people sometimes hate it and we get two sides criticism sometimes and praises at the same time. But you know what happens is at the release of like, for instance Nicolasā movie or my games, people might say āewwā or people might praise it, but after 5 or 10 years people will really start to evaluate what it was about, meaning it leaves a mark for everyone to think about. Same as 2001: A Space Odyssey or Blade Runner, so I want to create those kind of things. So when I first started my own production, you know the easiest way to make money was to create something online on an island that everyone goes and shoots each other, but I didnāt want to make that.
As to how Refn ended up in the role in the new game, Kojima explained that he had based Heartman off of the filmmaker. āHeartmanās heart stops every 21 minutes. What happens is that he dies and he looks for his family on the other side for three minutes,ā said Kojima.
āI make movies and when I work with actors, itās flamboyant and colorful and warm, and then I come here and itās like, āTake your clothes off. Weāre going to paint your face with dots,āā Refn said of the process of getting his likeness in the game.
Describing his latest, Kojima compared Death Stranding to Hollywood films. āI want to create new things and give new stimulation to the world,ā he said. āI want to bring something different that is difficult to chew and digest.ā
āI think Kojima and I both take great pleasure in destroying good taste,ā Refn added.
Maybe Iām just a Kojima Optimist. But, I donāt think the dude actually tries to ādestroy good tasteā.
I think that he is constantly trying to find that line of taste. Many times he has found it. Many times, he got the seasoning wrong or paired the wrong fixings.
Itās a good one but provocative statement spoke the spicy divisive man. Refn-ed in a bit, itās more like kicking around the popular standards box, they enjoy an overlap of corrosion to menu.
Canāt see too well from the screencap on my phoneā¦I could read A Heart Aflame and Rainbringer on that shelf, which could be fictions but I think? are a book and song respectively. They are all bluray/dvd sized though.
The Release Date mega trailer and now this have given more insight with calmer, relaxed scenes, thereās no doubt on the amazing breadth this game will cover Iām still just really curious on the overall length. Then again it could really vary and better to not have a hard number in mind.
this is probably the most obnoxious tim has ever been
I l o v e i t
I am apparently here for Tark Souls
Honestly I can only hope to be earning a living being that obnoxious while wearing a Buzz Ricksonās jacket when Iām 40
I thought my tim phase was long over but alas
The punchline is real enough, this is a piece of work that everyone is basically bullied into consuming because of The Discourse
