thanks. I just saw that particular reveal myself at the 2h mark last night, and I thought it was pretty good.
I expected to be better at this game than I am.
yeah. I like that they’ve nerfed magic a bit, even though being able to kite enemies at all is a pretty inarguable downgrade from bb. that first boss took me a solid five tries.
To be fair, I think The Witness is an unusually spoilable game.
Seems like this time around with Soul Memory gone your player matchmaking is determined in at least a large part by your weapon upgrade level. Not sure about many of the details seems like a good protein to be aware of.
my footsteps are making some kind of geiger counter noise when I walk and it’s driving me nuts
The normal enemies in this game are really aggressive and pretty lethal!
I’m playing a dex character but the broadsword I found is more effective than any of the dex weapons I’ve got so far :-/
Dark Souls III is sorta freaking me out. To keep it as vague as possible in the intro section there is a “don’t go here or else” warning that I ignored… except that I lived. Then I made my way to the first boss, screwed up mightily on initially figuring out its attacks… yet I still lived. This has never happened before in any Souls game. Now I’m walking around with a lot of souls, no way to level up and the knowledge that I always die early on and am starting to get paranoid. I believe there is only one way to go and actually quit for the day before doing so as I psyched myself out.
I’m through the fourth area, about four and a half hours in, pretty certain I have done literally everything up to this point so it is relatively linear from that point of view but the level design is good enough that it’s not a huge negative. that said, this game is still Unremarkable Souls. though it has far more nostalgia callouts to earlier titles than before, even DkS2 had a better sense of mystery; it does really feel like I’m going through the motions here without much sense of what might be ahead of me.
it’s fine. I’m enjoying it. I have an uchi + 4.
…and a gotdang cloranthy ring!
Is this the Alpha 3 of Souls or naw?
there’s a top-tier dex weapon available early on: there’s a guy lurking around outside firelink shrine with a katana, he drops it
~20 hours in, bummed that i’ve had a couple of npcs disappear eileen style while trying to do their quest lines, but otherwise this game rulez
I should probably have played something other than a dex / caster hybrid for once, oh well
Did anyone actually die fighting the first boss? I wrecked its shit before it even had a chance to transform
in five hours it’s the only thing that’s taken me more than 2-3 tries actually, but I’m weird that way
Oh god, how is every single one of these so bad?
So, for some reason I though this came out on the 14th, but it actually came out yesterday!
I couldn’t resist the urge to fire it up for a while. Died 5 times on the first boss. The true Dark Souls starts here (to be fair, I am a pyromancer and was doing the fight in the opposite way I should be doing it)
I hope you can respec in this game like in DS2. Took a lot of the anxiety of making a build as you learn out of the procedures.
Not quite ready for this yet. I wanted to finish Scholar before. And apparently I should play Bloodborne before this as well? I can wait with DS3. Especially since I’m one of those poor souls who’s getting audio and graphic glitches, a few several video driver crashes that forced me to reset my computer (which never happens with any other game!)
So, yeah, time to wait until they patch that stuff
Also, is it just me or is this engine hilariously unoptimized? The recommended requirements nvidia gives me are absurd. Disabling SSAO and antialiasing completely, for example. Contrast with DS2 running on ultras settings at a smooth 60 fps with over 2000px downsampling enabled…
my housemate is going on a beach trip and letting me borrow the ps4 and his copies of bloodborne and ds3
i’m thinking i should play bloodborne first, but i don’t think i can finish both of them before he gets back on monday so i’m kinda torn :<
even taking aside the fact that From’s optimization is usually questionable (although the 1.03 patch right before the official NA/EU release was supposed to have helped quite a bit with that, though I can’t compare to pre-patch and I’m running on an engineering sample Titan X so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), the past year or so of big-budget Windows releases have all been really, really under-polished compared to the same titles on PS4. taking aside the fact that I don’t want to be running Windows anyway, that’s a substantial part of why I’ve been telling everyone to just get a console lately – given the lack of value in GPUs in between the 750Ti and 970 over the past couple years, it seems like high-end PC gaming is just getting further and further marginalized by developers. everything between indie games that’ll run on Intel graphics and perfect 90hz VR is a bit of a canyon right now (and DRM is lots harder to break too, in case you were in it for that).
what is the blacksmith’s repair thing for
Probably when a piece of equipment breaks completely at 0?
